As a member of the FM Global Group, AFM specialises in commercial property insurance for the middle market. There is an immediate employment opportunity for an 'Account Administrator/Underwriting Assistant' to join AFM in our Sydney office on a temporary basis for a 13 month contract.

The successful candidate will enjoy:

  • Manipulating complex data spreadsheets in Microsoft Excel

Working as part of an account team, you will be primarily responsible for producing and processing policy documentation as well as coding and entering data into appropriate processing systems in accordance with corporate standards. This position provides assistance to production underwriters and the ability to work in conjunction with other team members. The successful candidate will embrace a team-focused environment and display a strong initiative and flexibility to get the job done.

The qualified candidate will possess strong organizational and interpersonal skills along with the ability to multi-task and work independently under pressure as well as with others on the team (both external and internal) in an ever-changing environment. As part of an account team, the candidate must be able to efficiently and effectively manage workloads to meet assigned deadlines and balance multiple priorities.

The position would give the successful incumbent an opportunity to gain a wealth of exposure across underwriting through; reviewing policy documentation, managing broker requests and queries while working closely with a team of experienced underwriters and engineers on renewals and new business accounts.

The successful candidate must have excellent English language oral and written communication skills.

On-the-job training for this position will be provided.


  • The position requires a high school diploma, or equivalent and a minimum two to three years office experience and/or insurance experience supporting a work group or manager.
  • The successful candidate will be career, client and detail-oriented, with strong organizational, communication and teamwork skills.

  • The qualified candidate must exhibit a strong mathematical aptitude along with proficient computer skills, including MS Office products (i.e. Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

  • The position requires an energetic person able to prioritize and manage time efficiently and effectively.
