In this role, the Cost Accounting will provide timely, accurate, and value-added financial analysis to management that is essential for effective decision making. Evaluate alternatives and make recommendations as an advisor to the Plant Controllers, Plant Managers, VP of Manufacturing, and Group Controller.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ Perform cost and variance analysis
+ Review and monitor manufacturing performance throughout the month
+ Meet the needs of a complex, diverse, dynamic, and fast paced organization that will pose a wide variety of challenges from both the finance and manufacturing levels
+ Answer financial and cost accounting questions, keeping in mind requirements from GAAP as well as IFRS
+ Analyze financial results, identify performance issues and proactively initiate analyses and solutions
+ Focus on continuous improvement and the elimination of non-valued activities.
+ Provide weekly & monthly updates on plant manufacturing performance (OE, availability, etc.) with meaningful commentary
+ Calculate monthly freight variance
+ Aid in cost reduction tracking & reporting
+ Preparation of monthly working capital reports
+ Analyze product standard costs across 8 plants
+ Participate and support the month-end financial close
+ Assist with capital requests, monitoring & closure
+ Assist in preparing analyses and responses to management requests
+ Preparation of monthly working capital reports and reporting on new products
+ Focus on continuous improvement and the elimination of non-valued activities
+ Support Gypsum’s internal control monitoring and improvement activities focusing on plant operations
+ Support plant annual compliance to internal controls review
+ Oversee inventory cycle count program and physical inventory exemption justification
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
20-25% overnight travel will be required.Travel will be required to learn and maintain knowledge base for the plant controller role in order to support the location
Position must understand all corporate policies and procedures and work within their framework, including policies regarding ethics and confidentiality
Career progression path may include opportunity to move into a field Plant Controller role

+ BS/BA in Accounting or Finance and 3+ years’ experience in a manufacturing plant
+ Proficient in management accounting, cost and inventory accounting and financial analysis
+ Ability to solve problems with business acumen, strong analytical skills, creative thinking and innovation
+ Demonstrate IT proficiency (SAP, database, Excel, PowerPoint); use to analyze & improve processes
+ Manage multiple simultaneous priorities and projects; works independently with minimal direction
+ Experience in downloading, manipulating and analyzing large data streams
+ Poseess excellent interpersonal / relationship building skills with the ability to build relationships across all levels of the organization; effective process improvement team member
+ Demonstrate high client service orientation
