Job Description

    • 0.5FTE, fixed term position until 30 April 2021

The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP) is the principal organisation representing the medical specialty of Psychiatry in Australia and New Zealand. The RANZCP has received Australian Government funding under the Specialist Training Program (STP) for the delivery of projects to support trainees in STP posts on the pathway to Fellowship.

We currently have an opportunity for a Part-Time Administrative Officer, Specialist Training Program (STP).

Reporting to the Projects Manager STP, this position is responsible for the administrative and secretariat duties associated with the STP Support Projects and associated committee activities. The position will also provide general administrative support to the STP Projects Manager, Contracts Manager and the Financial Services Department.

Specific duties include, but are not limited to, preparation of documentation and correspondence, data entry, filing and document control, the provision of information to relevant stakeholders and team members, and assistance with supporting relevant committees and event planning. In addition, the incumbent will also assist in the review and development of current standard operating procedures across the STP Unit to assist with the implementation of best practice administrative systems.

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

Essential

• Demonstrated experience in providing administrative support to committees and working groups.

• Well-developed interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills in multidisciplinary settings, including evidence of clear and concise writing for a variety of audiences.

• Excellent organisational and planning skills including the ability to manage numerous tasks concurrently establish priorities, work to tight or competing deadlines and adapt to meet changing demands.

• Demonstrated capacity to work as a member of a team, balanced with the ability to initiate and progress work independently and in line with team objectives and priorities.

• The ability to build relationships, work collaboratively, harmoniously and consultatively with other college staff, relevant committees and working parties, and external bodies.

• Commitment to providing high quality service and is dedicated to meeting/exceeding the expectations and requirements of internal and external stakeholders.

• Competence with the MS Office suite and database software, and understanding of teleconference and videoconference technologies.

Desirable

• Relevant tertiary qualification in education, healthcare

• Experience working in or an understanding of the Australian / New Zealand health system(s) and in preferably the mental health sector.

• Preparedness to work on some weekends and to travel interstate and to New Zealand.
