Job Description

This role is responsible for ensuring developers understand and are on track with product priorities and deliverables. This role needs to clearly communicate the ‘why’ to the development team. With the Product Manager and Lead Engineer the applicant will be able to identify the ‘how’, then break the ‘how’ down into sizable deliverables. There will be some customer facing tasks including exploring and documenting our customers’ problems to solve.

The successful applicant will feel comfortable bridging the communication gap between developers and customer requirements. They will be an agile enthusiast and an energizer to developers, reminding them of the ‘why’ and the importance of the assigned work. This is initially a 6 month contract.

Primary Responsibilities and Accountabilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Contributing to and helping to foster disciplined agile working practices
  • Working with the Product Manager to manage and refine the backlog
  • Documenting requirements in the form of agile user stories and acceptance criteria
  • Ensure that user stories and acceptance criteria are of sufficient quality for development and test.
  • Working with the Product Manager and key business stakeholders to ensure that all requirements are identified and documented.
  • Where appropriate, using more formal analysis techniques such as UML, use case and activity diagrams, and performing business process modelling.
  • Provide the voice of the customer to developers ensuring the team understand the customer motivations, goals and pain points.
  • Active participation in agile ceremonies (E.g: Sprint Planning & Retrospectives)

Requirements

  • Proven practical experience of using a range of agile analysis techniques
  • Experience working closely alongside developers and testers
  • Demonstrated ability to break down large volumes of technical work into sizeable deliverables for customers
  • Ability to prioritise workload
  • Awareness of software development technologies, techniques and practices in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Demonstrated facilitation and communication skills with developers and customers
  • Ability to simplify complex problems into component parts and evaluate systematically
  • Perform analysis to validate business assumptions and requirements
  • Enthusiasm, curiosity and a desire to improve ways of working
  • Working knowledge of delivery tracking tools such as Jira and Confluence
  • Willingness to join out of hours conference calls with other regional offices from time to time to assure consistent practice across development groups
  • Some interstate travel will be required for the role, estimated to be 5% annually.
