The Automation Products Group (APG) in Applied Global Services seeks to hire an application engineer to support deployments, services, and customer support for our software products including but not limited to, Equipment Automation (EA), Recipe Management (RMS), Fault Detection (FD), Run-to-Run (R2R) and Statistical Process Control (SPC).  The primary responsibilities for this role include the following:

Review, validate, and approve Scope of Work (SOW) definitions for clients seeking APG services Review and respond to customers’ Request for Proposal (RFP) Create and implement software demonstrations Participate in the deployment project management process Perform software installations Provide customer support Develop custom plug-ins or interfaces

Successful candidates will have advanced knowledge of EA, RMS, FD, R2R and/or SPC, and will be able to create, copy, and configure controllers within Applied Materials’ framework.  Further, candidates will be proficient in working with customers within multiple levels of the organization, gathering customer requirements, and resolving customer concerns.

Preferred Knowledge and Experience

  • Operational knowledge of typical factory automation and control systems with strong working understanding of use cases driving need for these systems. Includes MES, Dispatching, Scheduling, SPC, FDC, AMHS, Equipment Integration, R2R, general information technology and database technology.
  • Familiarity working with enterprise automation software running on Windows/Linux platforms with Oracle database
  • Experience with software development business processes.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing business
  • Direct experience using EA, RMS, R2R, FD, SPC software solutions
  • Mandarin language skills would be an advantage but not required

Qualifications and Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Computer Science
  •  5-7 Years of direct experience creating automation solutions (e.g. EA, RMS, FD, R2R, SPC, …) in a factory setting


  • Expect about 25%-50% travel
