As Application Manager, you will be accountable for providing the core IT services that enable our business and help agencies leverage GroupM’s resources for the benefit of clients. This will include facilitating and advising senior business stakeholders in the market on how to innovate and utilize technology to enable client-specific solutions and drive business transformation, as well as coordinating resources within WPP IT, IBM, Application Support and Delivery Teams to ensure delivery of those projects. You will also be accountable to ensure that the technology services and support meet the business needs from both a quality and performance POV.

Ultimately, your goal is to enable greater efficiency and effectiveness for the Technology function within GroupM Philippines by optimizing the company’s investment in technology.

This role reports to the Associate Director, Technology – GroupM Philippines

Measures of success

In 3 months:

  • Have taken over all on-going technology activities and projects from the incumbent
  • Been up to speed with what our existing solutions can offer and articulate well to all stakeholders
  • A good grasp on our technology landscape at both conceptual and operational level
  • Be the go-to person for all applications support, service requests and projects

In 6 months:

  • Proactively manage applications and service projects and service delivery independently and confidently
  • Been able to validate solutions to ensure they are fit for purpose
  • Establish a roadmap of work for the Philippines
  • Been able to understand technology solutions in more intimate levels so that you can provide opinions and engage in deeper conversations with technology delivery teams and external software vendors
  • Been able to assist the IT Business Partner to support the market’s technology compliance with some guidance

Responsibilities of the role:

  • Develop comprehensive knowledge of the capabilities of all applications and be able to suggest usage solutions to meet business needs
  • Responsible for managing stakeholders in the development and agreement of business requirements, including discovery work to investigate and define new product developments
  • Review business concepts/ideas and help business owners articulate the business case
  • Set and agree on technology and process roadmaps with key stakeholder and executive sponsors
  • Accountable for the quality of the relationship between IT, business teams and stakeholders
  • Participate in and inform the prioritization process for business investments and assess the risk and return
  • Responsible for the formal initiation of projects with appropriate business sponsorship and governance
  • Responsible for initiating the gating process and ensuring that all projects are accounted for within the standard GroupM process (book of work)
  • Accountable for aligning the market’s technology plans into the GroupM strategic direction
  • Work closely with application vendors to ensure that they clearly understand the business requirements
  • Implement process or system change projects, by partnering closely with key business stakeholders, the regional applications team and our outsourced vendors
  • Undertake the application deployment, observing governance around configuration management
  • Ensure that applications are upgraded to the latest supported versions
  • Ensure that applications are configured for optimal performance and usage
  • Attempt to analyze the cause of all problems and either provide the end-users with a solution, workaround or escalate the issue to third level support in Delivery Teams or Support Vendors
  • Verify, manage, track and regularly communicate the status of issues reported between the user base in the local market and the support team
  • Conduct basic and advanced hands-on training and demonstration sessions for end-users and be the primary point of contact in the local market; providing daily support, troubleshooting, configuration, installation and super user training for Applications supported by the Philippine Technology Team

What you will need:

  • Bachelor degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering or related discipline
  • At least 5 years’ working experience in:

    • Managing Software Development and Implementation Projects
    • Business Analyses and Process Design
    • In depth knowledge of technical troubleshooting
    • Working knowledge of infrastructure
  • Essential :

    • Strong problem solving and decision-making skills
    • An advanced level of written and oral English
    • The ability to quickly learn and understand new business environments
    • The ability to achieve high-quality results by paying attention to detail
