Position Description
This position is considered to be the core business activity within the company and contains a number of different tasks. Most activities in the Shop fall under the broad category of Operations Technician. An Apprentice Workshop Technician receives training in Industry, OEM and Company Practices as well as training related to one or more of the following areas: Assembly, Disassembly, Inspection, Balancing and Test of a Gas Turbine Engine.
Position Requirements
Position Accountabilities
* Maintain a safe and clean working environment.
* Conduct all work in accordance with company policies, quality procedures, manufacturer and customer specifications and industry regulations.
* Complete all documents related to the work being performed.
* Receive incoming engines.
* Disassemble engines as required.
* Visually or detail inspect engine parts.
* Balance rotating components.
* Assemble main engine, modules and all sub-assemblies.
* Test engines and components.
* Prepare engine for dispatch.
* Actively participate in Continuous Improvement programs and identify opportunities for improvement in processes, working practices and team efficiency.
* Utilise IT systems as appropriate.
* Maintain positive working relationships with all internal departments and attend meetings if requested.
* Adhere to all Environmental Health and Safety Regulations, Business Ethics and financial controls.
* Report unsafe conditions and practices and make safety suggestions.
* Other duties as directed by Section Lead / Manager.
* Successful completion of Cert IV Theory in Aero Skills (Mechanical) or equivalent from an approved Aviation Training School
* Strong work ethic, reliability and enthusiasm to be a team player
* Strong attention to detail and communication skills (oral and written)
* Ability to learn quickly with proactive approach to learning.
* Ability to use basic hand tools.
* Ability to use and care for precision measuring and torquing devices.
* Demonstrate and willingness to practice safe work procedures and report issues and work towards a continuous improvement mindset.
