Software Asset Management Service Specialist - Brisbane Corporate Office

Reporting to the Global Contracts & Governance Manager, this role will lead the Software Asset Management (SAM) function for Anglo American and group companies. This includes managing the strategic relationship with, performance of, reporting on and risk profile of all major software vendors used by Anglo American. You will be tasked with driving optimisation and cost saving initiatives across the group ensuring high customer experience throughout.

You will ensure that the Anglo-American policy and procedures on Software Asset Management (SAM) are executed in such a manner that it addresses key risks, are efficient in its application and delivers to its commitments outlined in the contracts and appropriate regulatory requirements. You will also closely monitor the compliance of all stakeholders to Anglo American’s SAM policies and procedures

Key Responsibilities:

Savings and Optimisation

  • Drive a rolling renewal and maintenance schedule for all in-scope software vendors and software products, to enable proactive and pre-emptive action that delivers the most value
  • Create and deliver strategies to deliver sustainable software savings minimise shelf ware.
  • Budget responsibility for strategic software vendors.

Relationship Management

  • Provide regular status updates and expert advice to explain the risks, mitigation actions and opportunities to senior Global IM and business unit stakeholders to guide decisions regarding SAM
  • Ensure that the SAM managed service vendor(s) adheres to all service level agreements, terms and conditions in the contract(s) and provide direction, to ensure that their activity set is focused on delivering key outcomes: key risks and value opportunities.
  • Lead the relationship and operations of the Global software reseller.  Ensuring quality of operations, delivery of strategic initiatives and good customer service.
  • Establish co-operative and pro-active working relationships with Global IM’s software vendors and serve as the primary point of contact for all software vendor relationship management related queries and escalations
  • Design, maintain and execute a stakeholder communication and governance plan between vendors and Anglo American
  • Manage SAM managed service contract change, for example changes in scope, service level and pricing. Working with the appropriate organisation within Anglo American during negotiation and contract change execution i.e. Supply Chain, Legal and Finance

Continuous Improvement

  • Manage continuous improvement in the process of acquisition, installation, maintenance and commercial management of software in collaboration with relevant IM teams.
