Job Description

At Macquarie we uncover the opportunities others may miss. That’s because we know success comes from encouraging our people to think differently. Our culture promotes innovation and entrepreneurial drive within a strong risk management framework. We have a unique opportunity available for a Software Asset Management (SAM) Specialist.

Utilising your strong relationship building and communication skills, this hands-on role will see you use your licensing expertise to perform the daily activities of the team to support Macquarie’s SAM strategy and plans. You will collaborate with product owners across the organisation to help drive the implementation of the SAM framework and develop the maturity of SAM across Macquarie. If the prospect of joining a successful SAM function that is supported across the organisation excites you, then this role is for you.

Working with a dynamic team you will complete regular baseline reconciliations for key vendors to the agreed timelines, engaging with Product Owners and Technology resources across the organisation as required. Your software licensing subject matter expertise will be called upon when advising Technology and Business teams. You will also work closely with the SAM Tools team to ensure all tools required by the SAM team are maintained and extended in support of the SAM strategy.

You will be proactive in identifying cost saving opportunities with renewals and general license usage and identifying required remediation activities in order to restore Macquarie’s compliance position with software vendors. When required, you will also assist the global SAM team with software provisioning and procurement activities such as license allocation, inventory management and processing of invoices into Macquarie’s Accounts Payable system.

The successful applicant will have an understanding of license metrics with some of our key software vendors (Microsoft, SAP, IBM & Oracle), as well as sound comprehension of IT environments/infrastructure. Familiarity with SAM standards or frameworks (e.g. ISO 19770-X) is an advantage, and your ability to work collaboratively within a team-based environment is essential.
