What you will do
As the Assistant Manager Defence Attaché Support Services - Regional you will be responsible for coordinating all deployment related support for military personnel and their families posted overseas, under the NZDF military diplomacy and mutual assistance programmes, and coordinating Branch events. This includes providing a range of support services (finance, purchasing, liaison with other Government departments and coordination of travel), to the overseas posts and SCE Branch staff. You will ensure that personnel posted overseas are fully supported and have an open conduit back to NZ.

The ideal person for this role will be a customer focused self-starter who is a motivated and independent person.  You will be confident and have excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to liaise with and relate to a variety of people across all levels and ranks of the organisation. You can make those hard decisions and judgement calls and back yourself when you do.
 
Your excellent planning and organisational skills allow you to effectively work with changing priorities in order to make things happen. You will be experienced in financial monitoring, preparation and reporting and can provide advice and guidance on financial and administrative matters to NZDF personnel based at overseas posts. Developing training packages and coaching and mentoring new Office Managers is an important part of this position. 
 
This is an unique role which requires someone with a different level of administration and office management expertise. Some international travel may be required so you will need a current passport.

The minimum citizenship and residency criteria for security clearances to be granted by the NZ Defence Force are as follows:
Higher level Security Clearance
  • most preferably a NZ citizen who has resided continuously in this country for the last 10 years, OR
  • is a citizen of, and/or has resided continuously in one or more of the following countries for the last 10 years: either Australia, Canada, NZ, UK or the USA; and has a background history that is verifiable and can be assessed as appropriate by the NZSIS towards a recommendation of suitability for a security clearance at a higher level.
