The Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering, Industrial Systems & Technology at Jackson State University invites applications for the Assistant Professor position.

Minimum Required Education

A Ph.D. in Civil/Environmental Engineering with Transportation Engineering specialization and a B.S. in Civil Engineering is required.

Qualifications

• A strong commitment to both teaching and research is required.

• High quality engineering journals and industrial experience.

• Potential to develop very active externally funded research programs is required.

Ability to lead a transportation engineering research center is needed.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Teach Civil Engineering and related engineering courses as assigned by the department Chair.

• Conduct independent research, obtain significant external funding and publish actively in referred high quality engineering journals.

• Develop and lead a transportation engineering research center as directed by the Department Chair, the Dean, and the Associate Provost, if requested.

• Advise undergraduate and graduate students.

• Supervise MS thesis and PhD dissertation, initiate and participate in meaningful service activities, including university, community, and professional service.

• Participate in the assessment, ABET accreditation process, recruitment, curricula, development, and other service activities assigned by the Department Chair.

• Responsible and committed to a diverse student body and cooperate and collaborate with their colleagues.
