The Department of Psychology at Jackson State University invites applications for its Assistant Professor, Clinical Psychologist position beginning August 2020.





























Minimum Required Education

PhD in Clinical or Counseling Psychology.

Minimum Required Experience

  • All applicants must have adequate training and experience in teaching and mentoring graduate and undergraduate courses.
Minimum Required Licenses and/or Certifications

  • Must be licensed or license-eligible according to the criteria established by the Mississippi Board of Psychology.

  • Licensed eligible applicants are expected to obtain a license to practice psychology within 2 years or less from the date of hire.
Qualifications

The position requires a clear commitment to excellence in teaching and advisement, departmental, college and university service and a productive research agenda that will enable the candidate to meet the criteria for promotion and tenure at the appropriate time in the Department of Psychology.

Skills and Abilities

Must demonstrate the ability to sustain a productive research agenda that integrates science with practice.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • The teaching load is 3.3 (graduate courses) or a 4.4 (undergraduate courses).

  • In addition to teaching, faculty members are required to serve on dissertation and second year paper committees, to mentor both undergraduate and graduate students in their research laboratory and provide academic advisement.

  • Faculty members are required to pursue research funding through grant development.

  • A willingness to develop and teach online courses is strong desired.

  • Courses taught by the Social/Experimental Psychologist and the Clinical Psychologist may be the same; however, the clinical psychologist may also have clinical supervision duties and a choice of clinical psychology core courses.
