We are seeking a Senior Assistant Scientist 2 for our Method Development Team within the Residue group in the Chemistry department located in Tranent. The method Development Team provides services for developing quantitative analytical methods for the extraction, clean-up and analysis of agrochemicals and veterinary pharmaceutical residues in food and environmental samples. The Residue group is responsible for validating developed methods in accordance with Good Laboratory Practise (GLP). The successful applicant will take responsibility for conducting method development of drug and agrochemical residues in complex matrices. These projects require the method development of selective extraction methods, chromatographic separation, clean-up procedures ( SPE) and analysis by mass ; You will be highly organised, have an eye for detail and must be able to demonstrate proactive communication and passion for delivering scientific excellence. Furthermore, extensive knowledge of wet chemistry and analytical techniques, combined with an ability to solve technical and scientific challenges is essential. You will ideally have hands on experience with LC-MS/MS and method development for the analysis of small molecules. You will be educated to degree level in chemistry or closely related discipline. A senior assistant scientist is expected to work independently, may supervise junior staff and complete assigned tasks and projects on time. The ability to work as part of a team and to think critically to solve technical and scientific challenges is required. The following are minimum requirements related to the Senior Assistant Scientist 2 position. · Degree in chemistry or closely related discipline · Working knowledge of GxPs and industry guidance documents · Experience in liquid/liquid extraction, sample preparation, solid phase extraction (SPE), chromatography and mass spectrometry · Experience in method development of small molecules will be a plus · Ability to work extended hours beyond normal work schedule to include, but not limited to evenings, weekends, sometimes on short notice · Proficient using laboratory software applications ( Analyst, Empower) · Skilled in using lab equipment and equipment maintenance · Great organisational skills, excellent communication and team-working ability About Safety Assessment Charles River is committed to helping our partners expedite their preclinical drug development with exceptional safety assessment services, state-of-the-art facilities and expert regulatory guidance.
