Associate Director - South America Gas Research & Analysis

IHS Markit is a leading advisor on global energy markets. Our expertise covers all major energy sectors on a global and regional basis - from oil and refined products, natural gas and coal, to electric power and renewable power. A leading research and consulting business, our client list spans major players in global energy, including production, power and gas companies, financial institutions and service companies. We are looking for an Associate Director to fill out our Latin America Gas, Power and Energy Future team to focus on South America natural gas sector.
As a member of the Global Gas and Latin American Gas, Power and Energy Futures teams, this position will focus on advanced knowledge and thought leadership to both analysts as well as clients. This position will play a key role in product delivery, sales, new idea generation, in addition to create market reports, contribute to consulting projects and support events. A successful candidate will need to effectively utilize advanced mathematic and statistical skills in their modeling, communicate market developments, methodologies and assumptions behind our forecasts and projections and support for our conclusions as well as skillfully articulate the insights pertaining to the region.
The Latin American Gas, Power and Energy Futures team is comprised of highly motivated professionals delivering critical information to the energy industry.

Specific Job Duties:

  • Act as a main focal point for delivery of materials and thought leadership related to the South American Gas team. Supervise and mentor other analysts as appropriate.
  • Articulate and develop South American gas midstream and upstream message, as well as stay current on major events taking place in the gas industry such as regulation and market development, responding to client questions and queries.
  • Provide written interpretation and analysis of sector and industry trends and conclusions derived from in-house fundamentals and modeled data.
  • Help develop and manage sophisticated short- and long-term power supply and demand models with a full understanding of mathematical relationships between various data sets and benchmarks—especially for the Southern Cone Region.
  • Support sales of subscription and consulting.  Interact at a high level with potential and existing clients.
  • Develop and contribute consulting projects as required and as driven by business needs by working in collaboration other team members and groups. M ust be able to both qualify and deliver consulting as an individual and/or managing project teams.
  • Review written work and provide subject matter expertise to support deliver of high-quality subscription work and client-specific projects.
  • Develop new insight, analytics, and data products to create new revenue streams.
  • Maintains strong customer references and have an extensive understanding of customer needs. Employ external professional network to support subscription and consulting sales. This includes presenting at events/clients
  • In addition, the ideal candidate will have an established track record of participation and leadership in oil & gas industry organizations, in general.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in economics, statistics, engineering or industry-related fields required; graduate degree is a plus.
  • Minimum of 10 years directly related experience traditionally acquired by working in industry, government, or consulting
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • This position will operate under normal office conditions and will include moderate phone use and moderate to heavy computer use.
  • Travel up to 35% may be required for customer-facing, internal and sales related activities.
  • Must be proficient in English (oral and written)

Preferred skills:

  • Requires highly effective verbal and written communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills at all levels of business to enable effective/productive communications with key people including senior level clients, prospects and the IHS Markit sales force.
  • Highly articulate with ability to converse and present coherently the value proposition of the product/workflow solutions to customers and senior management.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment and ability to navigate and excel in a complex, heavily-matrixed organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a significant number of complex projects and/or direct reports.
  • Must be highly organized and creative with accomplished time and project management skills.
  • Must be flexible with the ability to work effectively and collaboratively with all coworkers
  • Demonstrated relationship management skills are essential, including the ability to relate successfully to a variety of people externally and internally, and to form strong relationships with key decision makers.
  • Advanced ability to manage multiple demands and priorities throughout organization and to devise strategies which increase revenue and renewals.
  • Proficiency with MS applications required (Excel, Word and PowerPoint).
  • Inherent knowledge of mathematical and statistical concepts and research methods.
