Job Description

We are presently recruiting for a 12-month contract at the Associate level within Investment Operations - Public Market Trade Operations reporting to the Manager, Public Market Trade Operations.  The Trade Operations department ensures that trading activity, security settlement, and asset servicing for Public Market investments and Derivative Products is managed in an effective and efficient manner.

The ideal candidate for this exceptional career opportunity is a self-starter with demonstrated leadership skills.  This person would require excellent analytical skills, written and verbal communication skills with prior knowledge of settlement and custodial procedures in Canadian and international marketplaces.  

Role-Specific Accountabilities


  • Responsible for providing oversight and assisting with day-to-day settlement processes and escalations from both internal and external parties for cash and/or derivative settlements
  • Ensure daily reporting and investigations are carried out in a timely and efficient manner; if there are exceptions to manage, confirm that the team and other related parties are following up; be comfortable reporting errors or incidents to related parties and management as necessary
  • Take on or assist with other reporting requirements including gathering metrics data and other ad-hoc reporting requests
  • Confirm that controls and procedures are being followed by the team and review and provide approvals as necessary
  • Assist with the documentation of key processes and controls supported within the team.
  • Be able to support daily settlement functions and become subject matter experts (SME) on public market products and derivative products settled.
  • Build and maintain professional relationships with our internal clients and assist with operational issues related to trade settlement and custodial procedures.


  • Actively participate in projects and internal initiatives as required in partnership with both internal and external business partners.
  • May be asked to represent the team on cross-department/firm initiatives
  • Identify, suggest, and implement opportunities for enhancements that facilitate straight through processing, automation, and efficiency.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external business partners.


If you possess the following, we’d like to hear from you:

  • Relevant university degree such as Business, Economics, Finance, Math, Commerce, Engineering, Accounting, or other related disciplines
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; demonstrated experience building and retaining solid working relationships internally and externally
  • Strong understanding and experience with Public Market Products and Derivative products considered an asset
  • Demonstrated understanding of operational processes and custodial procedures, familiarity with trade lifecycle, trade settlements, and custodial operations  
  • Demonstrated people management skills would be considered an asset
  • Excellent analytical skills and the ability to think through problems, assess a variety of factors, and recommend solutions
  • Knowledge of MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word,), Bloomberg OMS, and Visio is an asset
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • High degree of professionalism combined with the ability to readily adapt to rapidly changing investment business and technology environments
  • Team player who enjoys a high performance culture; comfortable and flexible with constantly evolving priorities and is open to new challenges
