Reporting directly to the Country Medical Director, Spain and Portugal, the Associate Medical Director is responsible for supporting the development and execution of the country/regional Medical Affairs strategy and programs that support the preparation, launch and eventual in market commercialization of Jazz products within the Neuroscience Therapeutic Area in Spain and Portugal, in alignment with the global strategy.
The Jazz mission is to bring meaningful medicines to patients with high unmet need. As a key member of the country/regional team, the role will demand high levels of cross functional collaboration and customer orientation.
The incumbent has responsibility for ensuring all activities are executed in accordance with regulatory and legal frameworks including but not limited to, Farmaindustria, EFPIA, GCP and IFPMA regulations as well as Jazz Pharmaceuticals Policies and Healthcare compliance procedures.
Country/regional Medical Affairs
Develop and maintain a high level of knowledge of Jazz therapy areas / products and related scientific literature in order to position him/herself as an expert in the field
Work closely with the Medical Director to support the development of the in country medical strategy and programs, ensuring successful development and execution of the Neuroscience Local Medical Plans.
Provide support and advice to the local medical and marketing groups in developing strategy and tactical brand plans
Contribute to the development of and maintain awareness of the competitive landscape and communicate intelligence to the medical and marketing team as appropriate
As requested by the Medical Director, he/she will be the Med Dept representative in those relevant groups, both local and European/Global, for activities related to the products or disease areas under his/her responsibility. As appropriate, these may involve participation in the tasks of the Company, Medical-marketing teams, Global teams, European networks, or other related working groups concerning products under his/her responsibility acting as the scientific liaison between international and local
He/she may also be the medical representative for the products or disease areas under his/her responsibility in the interaction with Regulatory and Market Access, that may require scientific advice on the area involved.
Lead the Neuroscience MSL Team and Provide scientific education and in-house training for them as well as leadership and team management.
Act as primary reviewer and/or approver of all materials for compliance under the relevant Code of Practice, including reference checking for scientific accuracy
Support local adaptation of EU/RoW training material and other scientific materials in collaboration with marketing and other appropriate internal stakeholders.
Provide scientific education and in-house training to Key Account Managers and other appropriate staff as required
2. Data Generation and Publication Planning
Lead the development and execution of local evidence generation to provide data to support the portfolio of Jazz products locally.
Support development of publication plans covering country/regional data generation needs
Facilitate and support investigators, who wish to conduct investigator sponsored or Jazz sponsored studies in line with Jazz strategy
Support the approval and implementation of these projects in line with relevant pharmaceutical regulations and Jazz SOPs as appropriate.
3. External Relationships
Support development of Jazz positioning as the scientific authority in our therapy areas
Develop strategic partnerships with appropriate stakeholders (KOL’s, pharmacists, local authorities, collaborative grousp and scientific societies etc) to ensure that Jazz portfolio is appropriately positioned in treatment guidelines and protocols through the provision of balanced, scientific information
Support development of country/regional advocacy through provision of scientific and clinical information
Deliver non-promotional clinical/scientific presentations relating to Jazz’s portfolio and its development or differentiation as required
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to critically analyse complex data
Clear and concise communication and presentation skills
Excellent planning and organisation skills
Strong inter-personal leadership, relationship building skills/collaboration and teamwork
Deep Knowledge of the Neuroscience TA focus on sleep disorders
Experience developing and implementing Medical Affairs plans at a country level
Experience launching new products, market shaping and launch readiness activities a distinct advantage
Experience of working in an affiliate Medical Affairs role a distinct advantage
Experience in establishing strong influential relationships with academic societies
Excellent command of English
Experience in effectively implementing local code of practice
Required/Preferred Education and Licenses
Strong preference for a Medical Doctor/pharmaceutical physician or Graduate with a higher scientific qualification e.g. MSc, PhD or pharmacy etc. and Neuroscience experience
