We are looking for a self motivated Research Associate / Research Scientist (fixed term contract of 18 months) with a strong background in biochemistry and cellular biology applied to drug discovery, preferably in oncology.
This position should be filled in the « In vitro Biology » department at EVOTEC France, in Toulouse.
Under the responsability of a team leader within the « in vitro Biology » department, you will be in charge of the following tasks :
Autonomously design, plan and follow up drug discovery projects.
Support and be involved in different aspects of drug discovery projects from target validation to translational science in oncology (for internal and third party projects), using your biochemistry and cellular biology expertise. Specific tasks will include:
Provide scientific and technical insight for projects
Establish or contribute to project proposals
Desing, setup and qualify new biochemical and cellular assays for in vitro pharmacology profiling of small molecules
Carry on compound in vitro pharmacological characterisation in drug discovery projects
Perform and analyse experiments in interaction with technicians and engineers
Present experimental plans and results internally and externally
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary research team in an exciting, fast-paced discovery-oriented environment, and at the interface of several departments and sites.
PhD in biochemistry / cellular biology
At least 2 years experience after PhD
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES :
A proven expertise in some of the following fields : phenotypic and target based drug screening, target identification and validation, enzymology, translational biomarker research
Solid knowledge in cancer cell biology and biochemistry
Basic immunology knowledge would be a plus
Knowledge and skills on standard cell biology techniques in oncology, enzymatic assay development, immuno-assays (HTRF, alphaLISA…), standard molecular biology techniques
Strong team player with excellent oral and written communication skills and with a demonstrated ability to work independently to design experiments, interpret data, troubleshoot, and suggest next steps.
Ability to organize and communicate complex data in a clear and concise manner to key stakeholders from diverse backgrounds
Follow good laboratory practices and health and safety guidelines
Full profficiency in English is needed, at least basic French communication skills would be appreciated
Over 2 years experience after PhD is required
Track record in assay develoment for target identification, validation and pharmacological profiling is a must
An expertise in oncology is preferred, experience on biomarker validation and translatability would be an advantage
Experience in pharmaceutical industry or biotechs would be a plus
