Golder has a new opportunity for a Biological Technician to join our Biophysical team. This position will be an hourly contract from April – September 2019 , with the possibility of extension, based in Fort McMurray, Edmonton, Calgary or Saskatoon.
An overview of your role will include:
· Leading wildlife construction monitoring surveys and implementing mitigation (i.e. migratory bird nest surveys, amphibian surveys, amphibian mitigation and relocation)
· Working alone or within a team to conduct field work
· Participate in Golder and Client H&S programs and policies
You will have a background in:
· Minimum 2 years of experience conducting migratory bird surveys
· Experience with digital data collection and data management is desired
· Construction monitoring experience is an asset
· Requirement to travel and participate in field work away from home on a rotational work schedule (e.g. 10 days on followed by 10 days off)
· Work location will primarily on oil sands mines in northeastern Alberta
· Experience working in the oil sands is mandatory
· Ability to adapt to unpredictable and/or inclement field conditions and changing schedules is required
· Effective communication skills
· Strong organizational and time management skills
· Excellent interpersonal skills and team-oriented
· Valid driver’s license
· Valid first aid
