We currently have a new opportunity for an experienced Business Analyst – Capital and Leasing, to join our Finance (Assets) team, reporting to the Senior Accountant: Capital & Leasing.

Role:

Working as part of a large team, this role will support the Global Assets: Capital and Leasing function. As Business Analyst – Capital and Leasing, this role is required to provide robust and accurate financial modelling and analysis to make informed decisions about the financing of assets. In addition, this role will be solely responsible to record and measurement of capital expenditure across the business.

Based at Thiess Head office in Brisbane, this role will attract an individual who is passionate about future business planning and development through data analysis. 

Some of your duties will include:

  • Analysing the impact of leasing on business financial results and operations, including development of financial models and training
  • Build, review and modify excel based financial models to collate, analyse and report financial data.
  • Present and report concise, yet comprehensive financial outcomes of financial decisions concerning equipment purchases
  • Analysing the impact of leasing on the asset lifecycle: specifically, provisions
  • Development of Lease Management Reporting and Analysis, including compliance reporting
  • Build and maintain a positive relationship with banking representatives
  • Appropriate record management and reporting of capital transactions and forecasts across the group
  • Analysis of Capital Investment decisions, including the development and maintenance of appropriate financial models
  • Contribution to the team in a manner conducive to a culture of performance and with an attitude towards cohesion with fellow personnel and best of business outcomes
  • Drive business processes and procedures to ensure appropriate controls and checks are in place
  • Contribute to the development of capital and leasing business process through the creation of policy documents
  • Build and maintain a positive relationship with internal stakeholders

What skills and experience do you need?

To be successful in this role, you will have a Finance Degree or Commerce/Business degree with Finance as a major, as well as:

  • 5+ years’ experience working in a large organisation
  • Experience in the mining industry preferred but not required
  • Advanced Excel capabilities
  • Ability to disseminate and report data for use by key decision makers
  • Strong relationship management, listening and collaboration skills with the ability to forge positive working relationships across all levels
  • Strong communication and influencing skills
  • Inquisitive and solution focused

Roster

  • 5/2 office-based work with some possible domestic and international travel required as necessary
