Role Title: Business Analyst

Business: Commercial Banking IT


Role Purpose / Description  

To assist in deployment of banking-domain and provide support to system development in partnership with business representatives and delivery teams. To encourage best practices in the development of technical solutions by GLT, thereby ensuring delivery of qualitative and cost efficient system solutions on time to exceed customer satisfaction.

Principal Accountabilities: Key activities and decision making areas

Impact on the Business: Facilitate delivery of system solutions

  • The Executive BA will be guided by his/her superiors while discharging his/her principal accountabilities

  • Assist in capturing business requirements/high level design

  • Assist in documenting user requirements into functional specifications/use cases

  • Assist in Domain training.

    Customers / Stakeholders: "Build-up comprehensive banking domain,knowledge base"

  • By acquiring, maintaining knowledge in various cross-functional areas of banking, financial services space through a comprehensive, current and relevant repository

  • By documenting the domain knowledge by means of white papers, presentations etc.

  • By participating in knowledge sharing and transfer.

  • By disseminating functional domain knowledge to various GLT

    Major Challenges:

  • In a rapidly evolving business environment, demands for developing systems and enhancements to the existing systems are increasing to take advantage of potential new business lines.

  • This requires knowledge of the existing systems as well as the business and a combination of an analytical and challenging mind, learning abilities and planning, managerial skills.

  • The jobholder should demonstrate excellent analytical capabilities, technical skills, learning abilities, team skills and ability to work independently.

  • The jobholder must use his system and business knowledge to provide an efficient and comprehensive level of support to the delivery teams.

  • He / She should ensure that the business requirements are correctly captured and understood by the delivery teams to enable them to deliver the system solution with a high degree of quality.

  • The jobholder must be open to absorb new technology and adapt enough to deal with a variety of disciplines (business, IT).

  • Acting as part of a service providing entity, the jobholder has to work on multiple projects that may also envelop different domain areas.




Knowledge & Experience / Qualifications

  • 3 to 5 years relevant working experience

  • Proven experience in the HSBC business environment or an IT role;

  • Good understanding of how technology adds value to the business and ultimately the end customer;

  • A good level of analysis experience and knowledge of structured techniques and Group standards;

  • Demonstrated ability to rapidly build relationships with key stakeholders;

  • Good knowledge of project management and staff management; and

  • A wide knowledge of IT hardware, software, operations and networks.
