Position Description

Business Development Director-Europe and Africa (E&A) is a key leadership position supporting growth, strategy and capture in support of the Chief Growth Officer and Business Unit Presidents. The position provides leadership in the development and implementation of market strategies for EUCOM, NATO, AFRICOM and all subordinate commands in Europe and Africa. This position requires on-site work in Stuttgart, Germany and frequent travel to industry and government sites in the market area of responsibility.

Responsibilities

Identify, develop, track, and successfully execute a pipeline of qualified opportunities to support Smartronix growth objectives supporting forward deployed organizations

Develop and lead capture planning and teaming activities and stay involved throughout the business development lifecycle

Build, develop and foster relationships with key agency decision makers, influencers, and industry partners to pursue and win new opportunities

Work collaboratively and proactively across the organization to drive and achieve broader company growth objectives while maintaining connectivity to the programs/contracts executing in the market

Engage in industry events and serve as liaison for memberships and event participation

Conduct market research and analysis to stay current on Combatant Commander’s mission priorities, opportunities, and buying trends

Provide strategic guidance and actively engage in supporting proposal efforts

Build and maintain relationships by engaging business leaders and key government stakeholders to establish credibility, solve problems, build consensus and achieve objectives

Support the Chief Growth Officer and Presidents of Defense Solutions and Cloud with business development and market positioning activities as assigned

Coordinate priorities and resources between multiple opportunities

Prepare and updates SalesForce and participates in recurring business development meetings

Utilize corporate QMS processes to conduct business development activities

Perform other duties as assigned



Required Skills

Demonstrated success in the DoD business development market through prior work experience in customer-facing roles in Europe

Business development, customer relationship management and technical proposal writing skills

Knowledge of business development standards and best practices to include process improvement techniques and the ability to lead and direct improvement initiatives



Required Experience

10+ years well-rounded experience conducting business development activities across the federal market

Working knowledge of Combatant Command missions, cultures, organizational components, leadership, major programs, challenges and buying trends

Proven, sustained ability and reputation of winning contract awards of over $100M while maintaining high levels of client satisfaction

Experience developing and managing a pipeline, forecasting, and closing deals

Established relationships with influential clients, stakeholders, and influencers, with demonstrated ability to develop and foster new relationships

In-depth knowledge of the competitive landscape and existing contracts within the AFRICOM, EUCOM and NATO market space

Knowledge of the federal acquisition process, procedures, and associated regulations

Experience with C5ISR and IT solutions and services including Airborne ISR collection, ISR Data Fusion, Agile Transformation, Cloud Solutions, and Data Visualization and Analytics

Ability to make sound business decisions and use appropriate judgment

Self-initiator, sense of urgency, decisiveness and ability to inspire growth across and within the team

Strong leadership, diplomatic and motivational skills including the ability to lead up, across and down multiple business and technology organizations

Experience interacting with and briefing senior government and industry acquisition officials

Proven ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment demonstrating teamwork, innovation and excellence

Self-motivated, decisive, with the ability to adapt to change and competing demands

Demonstrated communication skills; both written and oral with technical and non-technical staff, all levels of management

Flexible with proven ability to conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities

Unquestionable integrity and character

Regular travel in market area of responsibility and periodic travel to Smartronix LLC corporate office in Hollywood, MD

Current Secret clearance required, as well as ability to pass investigation needed to obtain Top Secret/SCI clearance

Bachelor’s degree, business (preferred) or a related discipline

PMP, or equivalent training desired
