Team Overview

Korea is Preqin’s fastest growing market in APAC and has seen an exponential growth in the last couple of years. Our Korean clients are consisting of established asset management companies, securities firms, asset owners and government institutions.

The existing Korea sales team consists of highly motivated, energetic and achievement-oriented individuals who have been with Preqin for the last two to three years. The team has built a strong brand value and network within the alternative investment community and aims to continue growing Preqin’s business, relationships and brand equity in Korea.

Role Overview

The business development manager will own a specific market segment within the Korea market; their primary goal is hunting and selling to non-subscribing new firms in order to achieve monthly sales targets and quarterly milestone goals.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Develop a pipeline of new business opportunities within a defined sales territory
  • Achieve or exceed monthly net sales targets
  • Employ a consultative approach to selling Preqin’s services to new clients – deep understanding of clients’ business models and problems, and identifying the appropriate Preqin solutions
  • Manage the sales process from beginning to end – this includes securing introductions with decision makers, providing prospects with product demonstrations, detailed proposals and consultations
  • Face-face meetings at client sites, events and conferences within territory
  • Work collaboratively within a team environment to prioritize the interests of our customers and the firm
  • Accurately report internal administration: CRM activity log, sales pipeline forecasting, monthly reports to management, renewal planning and proposal preparation

Key Requirements for this Role

  • At least 4 years’ of business development experience in a similar discipline (preferred: financial data vendor, financial services, alternative investments, business to business SaaS sales, solution selling)
  • Strong outbound sale skills, plus consultative sales (e.g. SPIN selling) and negotiation skills and experience in a B2B ecosystem
  • Proven track record in hitting sales targets
  • Native proficiency in Korean to liaise with the Korea market and clients
  • Excellent interpersonal skills in written and verbal communications
  • Organized, detail-oriented with the ability to prioritize and respond quickly
  • Highly proficient in MS Office Suite and CRM systems. Experience with Salesforce is preferred
  • Sales motivated, team-focused attitude, and willingness to collaborate with peers, product management, and internal key constituents at the firm
  • Working knowledge of the financial market data space, alternative assets, and financial services industries
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Business or related field required

Training and Development

Preqin offers comprehensive Sales Training to all new members of the Sales and CS Teams. Our training is provided in the first few weeks of joining us and utilises powerful, up-to-date techniques along-side industry knowledge to create a truly bespoke training experience unique to Preqin. Individuals that complete our programmes are able to conduct more efficient prospecting, uncover more value within our prospects and clients, resist and overcome objections and achieve success in a shorter period. Once completed and an assessment passed, all Sales & CS reps will be fully certified in Preqin Sales Fundamentals and experience a reduced ramping period and earn more money, faster.

However, we have not slowed our recruitment activity due to the outbreak, and have adopted a remote interviewing, onboarding and training process.
