Job Purpose:
Contributes to the overall success of the Business Banking / Canadian Banking, Commercial Banking in Canada globally ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.
The incumbent is part of a national team reporting to National director and responsible for identifying, building and maintaining strong relationships with existing franchisee relationships, Franchisors networks including marketing and operations teams and related centers of influences within the assigned region. He/she is responsible identification of influential groups within the franchisee and franchisor network to institute advocacy for acquisition of new relationships nationally. He/she is responsible for providing market and business specific intelligence for each program and being the market area expert in the franchising segment for Scotiabank that will provide support, coaching and training for Small Business and Commercial relationship managers.
Key Accountabilities:
Identify and Build relationship with existing franchisee customers of Scotiabank within the assigned region:
+ Create advocacy for Scotiabank through franchisees currently banking with Scotiabank to other members in the network.
+ Identify franchisees internal organizations like advisory boards etc. and build relationship with key members.
+ Identify Women empowerment groups within the franchise network.
+ Lobby with existing franchisees in the network to promote Crowd deposits and other new initiatives
+ Ensuring total involvement in strategies to maintain a customer relationship that is being threatened by competition.
+ planning and completing relationship building activities which create sales opportunities within the target network
+ Identifying prospects and leads through existing franchisees network and referring the opportunities in a timely manner to the right banker.
Identify and building relationships with Franchisor market development teams and center of influences.
+ Maintaining a high market profile; participating on industry boards in order to develop relationships with key centers of influence to build and grow business opportunities
+ planning and completing relationship building activities with Franchisors Marketing and Operation teams to solicit warm introductions to franchisees in the market
+ Identifying and developing a network of community business contacts within the Franchisor network and participating in marketing/educational seminars;
+ Participating in Franchisor conferences and extending the invitation to related Scotiabank relationship managers to expand on the network through the introduction to new prospects by existing franchisees attending the event.
In a “ Business Development ” role, acquire market and business specific intelligence within the franchise programs to provide support ,coaching and training to Scotiabank:
+ Building and maintaining partnerships with our Small Business and Commercial Relationship Managers.
+ Gathering information on operating models and structural changes within the network and sharing the information with related stakeholders within the bank
+ developing and maintaining a strong knowledge of franchising customers in the local marketplace, including the nature and progress of high value franchises, their financial position and structure, and the terms and conditions of financial services used
+ Gathering information on competitor offerings and alternate sources of financing within target programs
+ Developing and maintaining business relationships with Centers of Influence (COI) including influential customers, internal and external referral sources.
+ Seeking existing customer feedback on bank products and the delivery of customer service.
+ discovering business and personal banking needs/preferences on both sides of the customer's balance sheet
Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.
Functional Competencies:
+ Experience in the field of franchising (educational or working)
+ Knowledge of the features and benefits of business products and services, selling approach, selling tools and calculators
+ Expert knowledge of the marketplace in which the branch operates / marketplace resides, proven expertise in the franchising segment within that marketplace
+ Working knowledge of the applicable software and technology platforms for Business Banking, including the supporting systems such as the ACE and GRM, Sales Builder, Intralink etc.
+ Knowledge of applicable risk management policies and processes
+ Working knowledge of legal and security documentation for small business products
+ Thorough and proven knowledge of solicitation, marketing and business development techniques
+ Thorough knowledge of small business legal structures, life cycles and owner characteristics
+ Thorough knowledge of business financial statements, especially the franchising segment
+ Working knowledge of other business line/partner offerings (ie. Wealth Management,
Experience/Education:
+ University/college courses in accounting, finance, business law, and economics, or equivalent work experience
