The business intelligence function in Lonza continues to deliver high value solutions and attract more opportunities to provide insight and automation solutions. As such, there is more demand than the current team can deliver grow and help more functions collect and manage data, and translate the data into information to support decision making across the business.
This role will complement the existing team expertise and contribute to the technical delivery of Lonza's BI platforms, including data and database management, analytics, application development, and reporting, primarily within the Marketing field. Depending on the successful candidate's areas of expertise and desired development path, there is scope to shape both the role and the exact deliverables based on broader objectives and team collaboration.
Become an active member of the Marketing Business Intelligence platform project team, supporting the development of BI solutions for our internal and external customers as required by business objectives
Lead projects across the key BI areas as required by demand
Requirements gathering and product scoping
ETL with source systems and data management
Report definition and design, and storytelling with visualisation
Analytics development and insight identification
Proactively work with the team members to identify untapped opportunities for BI to have a positive impact on Lonza's business, primarily within, but not restricted to, the Marketing function
Drive the improvement of data quality and availability by building processes, tool and reports for all data flowing in and out of the BI platforms, and by working with internal teams responsible for respective datasets
Encourage innovation within the area of BI by working with other team members to develop proof of concept processes and tools that will improve the efficiency, quality and delivery time of analysis within Lonza
Ensure that all solutions are in line with IT architecture and infrastructure guidelines, and contribute to Omni team best practices to ensure consistent and stable delivery of applications and reports
Strong analytical and logical problem solving capabilities
Extensive data analysis background
Experience with visual design through dashboards or other visualisation packages
General understanding of IT architecture and infrastructure related to Business Intelligence
Solid knowledge of principles of data management, including operating in a database driven environment
Understanding of Agile based processes for developing solutions
Specific technical skills below, coverage of more than one area is strongly desired, although intensely focused knowledge of one specific area is also welcome (examples below are only an indication of possible matches, not limitations)
Experience with ETL, particularly with enterprise data systems (e.g. Talend, SSIS, cloud platform ETL products such as Azure Data Factory, AWS Glue or Google Data Fusion)
Development of databases and applications on cloud platforms (e.g. Azure, AWS, GCP)
Implementation of data processes on cloud platforms
Advanced analytical techniques, predictive modelling, data manipulation and analysis, neural network implementation, text analytics methods (e.g. Python, R)
Report design, visualisation design, and storytelling through data (e.g. Power BI, Qlik, Tableau, Spotfire, Looker, d3.js)
