The role of a calibration technician is connected to the precise science of measurement. They have a wide range of responsibilities within a cleanroom/ laboratory environment; most importantly, they apply their knowledge of measurement science and mathematics to properly calibrate all inspection, measurement, and test (IM&T) equipment to ensure that such equipment meets all requirements for accuracy and precision.
Perform calibrations on process, utility, analytical equipment and systems generated via BMRAM (Blue Mountain Regulatory Asset Manager)
Troubleshoot and repair onsite instrumentation, control and monitoring system issues.
Execution of work as per onsite schedule/ unscheduled calibrations routines, ensuring coordination of work with operations staff and maintenance to minimize impact to production activities.
Ensure work is completed in a safe and compliant manner in accordance with applicable cGMP procedures.
Ensure that instrumentation and calibration documentation is completed accurately and in accordance with applicable GDP procedures.
Liaise with line support staff to generate and approve equipment calibration specification documents.
Collecting, analyzing, and summarizing any data obtained from the calibration process, as well as adapting calibration equipment for new or unusual measurement tasks.
Accurately preparing calibration reports for CAPA’s, NCEP’s and internal/ external audits.
Proven fault finding/trouble shooting skills
Recommend and implement improvement ideas to enhance the instrumentation and
metrology functions as well as other business processes.
Communicates any concerns about work processes regarding environmental impact, health or safety issues to their manager.
Team working – must work closely with colleagues to define equipment specifications, equipment set up, work instruction, and schedules.
IT skills – data entry and database use is an important part of the job and must be done in accordance with any internal SOPs or WIs (work instructions).
Analytical skills – must be able to take raw test data and analyze it accurately, reaching sound conclusions. Must also be able to critically analyze problems and come up with innovative solutions when required.
Coordination – will be working with a range of manufacturing equipment, conducting tests in strict adherence to SOPs and WI (work instructions).
Attention to detail – precision is essential in this role, the smallest details have to be noted and acted upon when necessary. Must also follow the SOPs or WIs for testing and calibration of equipment in an extremely strict manner.
Communication – both written and verbal communication skills are necessary. May be required to report outcomes of tests/ calibrations to engineering department staff, routinely liaise with colleagues to schedule calibrations and repairs, compile reports for management and deal directly with suppliers for replacement equipment or parts.
