PSI Angola with the funding from USAID implements 5 year Health For All program, supporting the Government of Angola and Ministry of Health in the health areas of Malaria, HIV and Sexual and Reproductive Health/Family planning.

PSI Angola is seeking an experienced candidate for the Malaria Case Management Specialist. The Malaria Case Management Specialist (MCM Specialist) will provide technical assistance to National Malaria Control Program (NMCP) to improve service delivery of primary care providers in the areas of malaria case management, iCCM and malaria in pregnancy.

MCM Specialists will support and mentor NMCP case management team based on the mentorship plan jointly developed by PMI, USAID and PSI. The MCM Specialist is supervised by the NMCP Coordinator. The MCM specialists is guided by PMI Malaria Specialist and Malaria Technical Director/HFA. The MCM Specialist reports to Malaria Technical Director. The MCM specialist is based in NMCP office (80%) and PSI Angola office (20%).

Your contribution
The MCM specialist provides technical support to NMCP and implementing partners in coordination with relevant technical advisors.
+ Provides support to review and develop NMCP strategic documents, such as strategic plans, needs capacity assessments, workplans, reports, guidelines, SOPs, support NMCP to develop integrated annual training and supervision plans, and other documents as required. Provides technical assistance to ensure that all the standards and SOPs are in compliance with WHO most recent guidelines.
+ Guides and supports NMCP staff in review and analysis of monitoring information and developing action plans based on monthly data
+ Participates in the supervision of provincial and municipal activities with the goal to improve service delivery and supportive supervision in case management (CM) and malaria in pregnancy (MiP). Proposes strategies that address service delivery gaps in CM and MiP at the national, provincial, municipal, facility levels.
+ Works with health care providers, local authorities, community members and program team members to Identify clinical training needs and assists in the design and implementation of measures to address those needs
+ Supports NMCP team to supervise and improve iCCM interventions implemented by ADECOS under the leadership of FAS/MAT. Proposes solutions to better align NMCP and FAS vision for ADECOS in malaria. Guides NMCP team in analysis of ADECOS service delivery monitoring data with the goal of quality improvement.
+ Assists in coordination of partners’ and stakeholders’ activities, such as trainings, supervisions, workshops and conferences. Assists in sustaining and improving existing and new databases that monitor achievements in training as well as tracking of training in malaria
+ Participates in field research and data collection, analysis and interpretation and ensures that accurate, complete and valid information is provided to the NMCP leadership/MOH to inform their strategic directions in malaria core and cross-cutting interventions.
+ Coordinates with other activities related to malaria case management, including planning and procurement of supplies, community services, social behavior change communication, monitoring and evaluation, human resources for health and health systems strengthening.
+ Assists in development and submission of abstracts, papers and presentations to journals and conferences
+ Conducts regular reporting to NMCP coordinator, PMI and HFA Malaria Technical Director of successes, challenges and lessons learned in implementation related to areas of technical expertise
Performance of the MCM specialist is evaluated in regard to the effectiveness in which s/he carries-out the primary duties and upon the completion of annual work objectives established with the NMCP, PMI and HFA
