The Department of Accounting. Finance and Entrepreneurship at Jackson State University is inviting applications for an Endowed Chair in Accounting. We seek an individual with a distinguished scholarly’ research record and renowned reputation in the field of accounting.

The Chair is expected to mentor Ph.D. students and junior faculty and develop a broad-based accounting curriculum that engages multiple parts of the university. While the focus of the Chair will be primarily academic, the Chair will engage in institution-building by collaborating with organizations and individuals both within and outside the university. Successful candidates are expected to demonstrate a commitment to diversity and equity in education through their scholarship, teaching, and/or service.

Minimum Required Education

Ph.D. or DBA from an AACSB-accredited institution in Accounting or other closely-related business fields with a documented scholarship in Accounting.

Minimum Required Experience

A sustained record of publishing in top tier accounting journals and proven teaching excellence at all levels.

Minimum Required Licenses and/or Certifications

Professional certifications (particularly CPA) are highly valued.

Qualifications

• Interest to teach in graduate programs (MBA/MPA/PhD.) and in serving as a member or Ph.D. dissertation committees is necessary.

• Scholarly academic status through sustained scholarship is necessary.

• Candidates with demonstrated academic and scholarship qualifications to teach in multiple accounting sub-disciplines are encouraged to apply.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Teach in the accounting discipline both in undergraduate and graduate programs (course assignments maybe during the
  
  day or evening and may include off-campus locations and online education).

• Teach a full course load.

• Demonstrate a continuous commitment to teaching excellence.

• Provide academic advising.

• Engage in continuous appropriate research that produces a high-quality scholarly journal publications to maintain Scholarly Academic qualifications.

• Serve on Ph.D. dissertation committees.

• Contribute to curriculum development.

• Actively support the Department and College and participate in university and community service through participation on College and University committees.

• Provide support to the professional academic community.

• Exhibit dynamic communication skills.

• Maintain the ability and desire to work in a student-centered environment.

• Assume other instructional and service-related duties as assigned.
