In joining us, we see this as a unique opportunity for an experienced Change Manger to play an important role, driving the roll-out of data management best practices across our business. The Enterprise Data Management program will see you work closely with our Group Data Officer as well as stakeholders to identify critical data and develop a comprehensive data governance framework.

We believe it is important you are personally strongly-interested in change and data management and this includes data collection and mapping and tracing data lineage; defining data quality and business rules as well as an appreciation of data governance. You will enjoy a team environment yet take ownership and accountability for results, all of which will be balanced by sound professional judgement.

You’ll be involved with initiatives that impact a broad range of the Group’s businesses and other Macquarie functions and be central to large change management initiatives, such as systems and process improvement, project implementation. These will also include the qualitative and quantitative risk components and documentation.

With a broad remit, you will work alongside the Group Data Officer in the strategy and project planning for data governance processes and policies, designing processes and templates to facilitate effective data management, supporting the stewardship and oversight of business data movements across all of Macquarie and periodic reporting on data quality, including issue management and resolution. Importantly though, you will need to be able to:

  • work with operational risk officers to identify and assess risks and ensure that there are adequate of controls to mitigate risks
  • play an important role in working with Project Managers and their teams to embed good data management practices; usual project delivery, supporting changes to processes and behaviours will be involved.

There will be a need for you to also assess the risk impact of data within respective areas to identify critical data and determine its ownership, and then define and create data quality rules to ensure that stakeholders understand what good data quality looks like and the importance of confirming. Lastly, you will work to develop internal data governance process guidelines and standards by leveraging industry best practice will be essential.

You will bring 5-7 years’ relevant change management experience in financial services which will include Operational Risk Management and/or Data Governance responsibilities. If you have gained financial markets experience or have previously engaged in management consulting to the sector, this will be highly-regarded. You’ll hold appropriate tertiary qualifications and a high level of PC literacy. We’re not looking for IT professionals, rather well-round business applicants with both the ability to work in a business environment but who can also understand technology and its impact. Given the vastness of the stakeholders, strong communication skills are essential, as is the ability to quickly build relationships. Our environment changes rapidly so the need to manage and prioritise whilst also maintaining a high level of attention to detail will be important to your success.
