State Street Global Markets (SSGM) engages in a variety of Brazil markets business activities, including Foreign Exchange sales & trading on a principal basis. The Credit & Global Markets Risk (CGM) group - being part of the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) division - is responsible for oversight of SSGM’s trading businesses.
This role is for a seasoned Risk Manager, located in Brazil with strong knowledge of market risk, credit and liquidity exposure oversight and is part of the CGM Market Risk team. The State Street Banco Commercial (SSBC) Chief Risk Officer will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer in Brazil with a dual reporting line to the Head of Global Markets Risk in the U.S.
The candidate will work with a team of risk analysts to establish and maintain governance policies and control frameworks to manage and report on risks and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements for Brazil and the U.S. The successful candidate must also be able to build effective relationships with the front office team and other groups globally.
Work with existing team on global risk oversight of market, credit and liquidity risks, measure exposure, produce risk reports and perform analysis, including validating position data and risk calculations.
On-going communications with the trading desks, support functions and regulators.
Monitor market risk, credit risk, and liquidity risk measures and take necessary actions to address any limit breaches (remediations and/or escalations)
Perform periodic review of risk limits and guidelines in collaboration with the front office team
Prepare meeting materials for senior management and regulatory reporting. Ability to present at various risk committees.
Help develop risk management systems (specifying requirements, supporting implementation and testing), prototyping and development of enhanced risk management tools.
Analyze and continuously enhance market risk measures (VaR, Expected Shortfall, PV01, Option Greeks) and counterparty credit exposure metrics (PFE, EPE, CVA, stress), including collateral analysis (ISDA, CSA, SIMM, internal guidelines).
Perform stress testing, identify vulnerabilities and support the stress testing scenario design process.
Develop good working relationships with colleagues within Compliance, ERM, SSGM, the Capital, Liquidity and Investment teams within State Street’s Global Treasury, and other business units and support functions (e.g., operations, assurance functions, technology).
Contribute to development with respect to Brazil risk and compliance on regulatory projects as required, independently driving forward assigned tasks.
Bachelor level degree required, Masters or PhD preferred.
Minimum 10 years of hands-on industry experience in risk management within the financial services, with some experience leading risk management teams.
Knowledge of Foreign Exchange and Interest Rate Derivatives necessary; in-depth knowledge of forwards, swaps, NDFs and options strongly preferred.
Extensive knowledge of Brazilian Regulatory Risk requirements such as policies, procedures and reporting.
Must be fluent in English and Portuguese
Excellent systems skills and strong ability to develop prototypes using Python, VBA and SQL; experience using Bloomberg preferred.
Strong background in statistics and mathematics
Ability to identify problems and limitations, propose solutions and proactively address these directly.
Ability to communicate and write clear and precise technical documentation and summary materials describing processes and risk methodologies.
