About the Opportunity

This is a technical role for a civil engineer to deliver high quality design solutions together with completing contract documentation, including producing technical specifications, schedules, contracts and site monitoring tasks.

You will work within the Christchurch Urban Development team, comprising of surveyors and civil engineers.

Key duties:

  • Carry our engineering designs in appropriate software packages for civil and urban development work
  • To perform calculations for roading (geometry and basic pavement design), stormwater and wastewater (catchment flows, pipe sizing, treatment devices) and water (demand, pressure losses, pipe sizing). Present calculations.
  • Prepare CAD drawings and write technical reports to support design drawings.
  • Complete technical specifications, schedules and tender contract documentation.
  • Perform geotechnical site investigation work (scala penetrometers, hand augers, clegg hammer tests) if and as required.
  • Undertake Engineers Representative roles as required.
  • Complete Project Management tasks; including reporting, project reviews and financial control.

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • Tertiary qualification in civil engineering
  • 2-5 years’ experience in delivering general civil projects
  • Demonstrable experience in a middle-level technical capacity in civil design, including 3 waters, roading and earthworks disciplines, and general civil management of small to medium sized projects.
  • Demonstrable experience with completing technical reports, specifications, schedules and tender documentation.
  • Proficient Civil3D and/or 12D software user.
  • Advanced ability in MS Office Suite including, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and other project related software.
  • Excellent report writing skills
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
