What you'll be doing
The Clinical Nurse Specialist Grade 2 (CNS2) position has a responsibility to provide advanced nursing practice and clinical leadership in extended home visiting services and related interventions for families with complex needs in Hornsby and Ku-ring-gai communities. The role also includes significant mentoring and providing professional support to the Child and Family Health nurses in the Hornsby Ku Ring Gai Child and Family Health Service. The position is required to be an advocate for quality child and family health nursing practice.       
The CNS2 works within a multidisciplinary team as part of the Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Child and Family Health Service. The CNS2 strives to maintain, improve and promote the optimal health and wellbeing of children and their families within the Hornsby and Ku-ring-gai communities. Clinical practice using evidence based clinical judgement and effective communication skills are utilized in caring for families. The Child and Family Health CNS2 considers individual  and cultural values, and endeavours to empower families through sensitive and flexible approach to service delivery. 

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:
  1. Consistently demonstrates behaviours that reinforce the CORE Values of our organisation; Collaboration, Openness, Respect and Empowerment. Demonstrates these behaviours with all stakeholders; colleagues, direct reports, as well as our patients and consumers, and those that care for them.
  2. Registered Nurse Division 1 with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia. Post registration qualification in Child and Family Health Nursing and at least 3 years full time equivalent experience working in relevant clinical area.
  3. Demonstrated commitment to ongoing high level professional development, with proven experience using advanced practitioner skills.
  4. Demonstrated leadership in the development of specialist clinical practice including primary case management of complex episodes of care within the home and a community based service.
  5. Demonstrated in depth knowledge and application of early intervention principles; infant mental health, child protection and optimal parenting capacity.
  6. Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team, with an emphasis on service delivery, quality of care and team cohesion.
  7. Current Driver’s License recognised in NSW.
