Senior Consultant – IFRS 9 Impairment & Hedge Accounting

Senior Consultant – IFRS 9 Impairment & Hedge Accounting

EXPERIENCE:
Ideal applicants should have development experience in the following key areas of IFRS 9 Impairment and Hedge Accounting. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing these areas, including:

  • IFRS 9 Expected Credit Loss (ECL) model development, implementation and validation (PD, LGD, EAD processes, staging, forward-looking scenarios)
  • Stage classification and migration logic, including back-testing and ECL sensitivity analyses
  • Design and execution of hedge accounting strategies under IFRS 9 and IAS 39 (fair value hedges, cash flow hedges)
  • Hedge effectiveness testing: retrospective and prospective methodologies (dollar-offset, regression analysis etc.)
  • Preparation of technical accounting documentation, policies and disclosures for impairment and hedge accounting
  • Project management for IFRS 9 and hedge accounting implementations: data mapping, system configuration, and IT requirements
  • Analytical skills – working with large data sets to identify issues, root causes, and perform scenario analyses
  • Experience with IFRS accounting software or integrated risk management platforms is a plus
  • People management, organizational and project management skills

QUALIFICATION AND SKILLS


To be considered for this position, the ideal candidate should possess the following qualifications:

  • Strong educational background with a degree in finance, accounting, economics, engineering or related field
  • Deep knowledge of IFRS 9 impairment requirements and hedge accounting frameworks under IFRS 9 and IAS 39
  • Hands-on experience implementing and validating ECL models, staging rules and forward-looking macroeconomic scenarios
  • Expertise in configuring hedge accounting modules within risk or finance systems is plus (e.g., Bloomberg, SAP, Oracle, Murex, Kondor etc.)
  • Proven track record in preparing regulatory disclosures and audit-ready documentation for impairment and hedge accounting
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and programming languages is a plus (SQL, Python, R, VBA)
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Outstanding relational skills and an inclination toward teamwork
  • Flexibility to adapt to evolving regulatory and business requirements
  • Very good knowledge of the banking industry and relevant regulatory frameworks
  • Proficiency in English is must and other foreign languages is a plus (e.g. Italian etc.)
