How will I help?

The Senior Financial Writer and Content Producer will oversee all of the marketing content initiatives for BT’s intermediary audience as well as direct investors across multiple platforms and formats to provide engagement, retention, leads and create positive customer and intermediary behaviour.

Working as a senior member of the Content and Communications team you will help develop and implement a holistic multi-channel content strategy for BT.  To be successful in this role you must be an exceptional writer and have a comprehensive understanding of wealth and financial instruments and markets with strong experience in financial services, specifically speaking to Financial Advisers.

You must also be able to write all forms of content.

As a highly competent content marketer you will be capable of managing multiple priorities, campaigns, stakeholders and brands.  This role is a crucial role within the Marketing team that requires a lot of stakeholder engagement and influencing not only within BTFG but across the various retail bank brands.


Your responsibilities will include;

Content Marketing

·        Determine intermediary strategy, content plan, and success metrics. Ensure a steady stream of high-quality content and continually increase engagement, views and conversions.

·        Implement content marketing editorial calendar for intermediary content marketing initiatives in collaboration with the Marketing team.

·        Leverage various forms of marketing collateral such as white papers, case studies, webinars, video, infographics and more to drive integrated content marketing campaigns.

·        Map out a content marketing strategy that supports and extends intermediary marketing, events and sponsorship initiatives.

·        Propose creation of new content, or re-purposing of existing content, that ties to content marketing initiatives.

·        Work with owners of content to revise and measure particular content and marketing goals.

·        Identify relevant issues and/or events in the industry and makes recommendations for creating and promoting relevant content in a timely fashion.

Content Strategy

·        Commission and curate partnership content from fund managers and 3 rd parties in line with overarching brand and marketing financial literacy and engagement objectives.

·        Develop, maintain, and enforce writing style guidelines.

·        Assign and track new content development (content matrix).

·        Consistently review content, identifying areas that need a greater depth of material and removing out-dated material; Develop and enforce content creation, maintenance, and archiving policies.

·        Develop a competitive site analysis/Gap analysis; Conduct competitor site content reviews to identify improvement opportunities.

·        Assess, catalogue, and organize content (content inventory); Develop and maintains the content inventory to document page-level information including URLs, keywords, page titles, copy notes, etc. 

·        Analyse site usage statistics to maximize information delivery and enhance usability of content.

Content Editing

·        Ensure internal and external content contributors are managed effectively and efficiently.

·        Review and edit content provided by external sources.

·        Ensure content compliance with editorial guidelines.

·        Perform quality assurance checks on published content.

·        Work with SEO expert to incorporate key words/tags in web content and create web content to align with identified key words.

Service excellence

·         Build effective relationships with key stakeholders, to ensure there is on-going engagement, collaboration and buy-in of the plan including fellow Marketers, Product Managers, Distribution team members, Legal and Compliance team members, the Customer Experience Team across BTFG and the Consumer and Business Banks

·        Work with partners and other providers to ensure we are using best of breed tools and processes to deliver interesting, relevant and timely content to our customers

·        Proactively engage with the BTFG Marketing team and the broader marketing teams within the Banks to continually generate, evaluate and implement enhancements in performance and productivity.

Risk first

·        Comply with relevant internal processes, compliance and legislative requirements

·        Always have the customers’ best interests in mind

Customer lead

·        Identify market potential, trends and opportunities which can be fed into the marketing plan

·        Understand everything about our key segments, walk in the customer’s shoes and be a subject matter expert for content. This includes working closely with the Insights and Analytics team to understand customer behaviour and design solutions to address and meet these needs

What do I need?

Knowledge/Qualifications/ Experience

  • 10+ years in marketing experience – preferably some experience working as a journalist
  • Highly capable writing skills
  • Experience in integrated marketing with a strong track record in digital and content creation
  •  In depth understanding of the brands within the group – distinctiveness, cultures, systems and processes and customers
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an emphasis on being able to work in a highly collaborative environment supporting multiple business units
  • Strong business acumen
  • Communications/Journalist/Marketing Degree (or equivalent)
