Invetech currently has a 6-month opportunity for an experienced Industrial Control Systems Engineer to work on exciting projects within our Cell Therapy team, with a view to future opportunities as our client base grows.

The responsibility of the role is to recommend control system hardware and software architectures for custom automation projects, typically for cell therapies, including ability to interfacing with higher level/client facilities. You will be responsible for providing inputs to the sales/conversion process, project planning, execution and delivery including managing control system project timelines, budget and work scope.  

The focus of this position is substantial relevant control system development experience and industry knowledge. Control system hardware electrical detail design implementation is performed by other specialist staff and is not the focus of this position.   

Your role

  • Recommend/plan/design/build control system hardware architecture and hardware (PLC / DCS based) for our external clients’ custom automation equipment projects in a typically GMP manufacturing environment which may utilize S88 Batch standards and complying with 21 CFR Part 11
  • Define/assist with User and Functional Requirements Specifications and software design specifications, provide input to equipment manuals and training material
  • Program a range of PLCs and HMIs, test and debug modules, test beds and final equipment (hands on to get equipment functioning)
  • Manage control system and component supplier relationships and co-ordinate work for support staff and other contractors
  • Install and commission equipment at Invetech and supplier sites (Melbourne)



About you  

  • Associate Diploma/Bachelor of Engineering in the field of Electrical, Software or Mechatronics Engineering, or equivalent relevant experience
  • Deep industrial control system industry knowledge with demonstrated ability to plan, develop and commission industrial control systems (PLC/DCS)
  • Understanding of importance and implementation of appropriate documentation of modes of operation, processes, sequences, code, of and test results
  • Knowledge and experience with industrial sensors, actuators and control equipment
  • Familiarity with GMP manufacturing environment, preferably for biopharmaceuticals and/or therapeutic products and/or with experience in complying with FDA 21 CFR Part 11
