Role:
The Attorney will pro-actively provide legal advice and
counsel to the AbbVie management, business and functional teams inChina, the AbbVie Area and Corporate
offices with support from other AbbVie attorneys, contractors, consultants and
external law firms.
Duties will include analysis and provision of timely,
strategic legal advice that comprises business-oriented solutions on a wide
range of matters including business development, market access, negotiations
and preparation of an extensive range of agreements (e.g. distribution, co-promotion,
marketing and sales, licensing, clinical study and research agreements),
managing acquisitions and divestitures, government investigations, litigation,
competition, privacy, employment and compliance.
The Attorney will develop and manage personnelas neededand ensure a high standard of legal
services and adequate support. The Attorney will also develop and manage the
legaloperational mattersincluding professional fees for the appointment and effective use of
external Counsel and consultant services.
Other responsibilities include: -
+ Identifycomplex to highly complex legal issues on assigned matters and proposealternative solutions;
+ Resolveroutine, moderately complex and complex legal matters with minimal supervision;
+ Developtools and processes to effectively manage work and requests for work;
+ Gaina solid knowledge of AbbVie’s businesses and the broader business impact ofdecisions made;
+ Keepabreast of changes in laws that affect AbbVie management, businesses andfunctional areas;
+ RepresentAbbVie externally with customers, suppliers, competitors and/or governmentagencies;
+ Resolveboth legal and non-legal issues on cross functional projects; define projectobjectives and manage such projects;
+ Resolveboth legal and non-legal issues using negotiation skills and legalexpertise;
+ Tothe extent that there are complex problems present or where specific technicalexpertise is required, select and direct the work of external counsel and/orconsultant,
+ Effectivelymanage the use of external counsel and/or consultant and generate optimal valuein the services provided to AbbVie
+ Coach,train and develop AbbVie personnel as appropriate
+ Developbudgets for assigned matters where necessary and operate within approvedbudget(s)
Experience:
+ 7-10years of relevant experienceworkingfora multinational corporation in healthcare or pharmaceuticalsand prestigious law firms
+ A law degree from a recognized University
+ Admitted to practice inChinaor any recognized jurisdiction
+ Experience in corporate/commercial lawand in preparing commercial agreements
+ General understanding/experience in Intellectual Property matters(patents, copyright, trademarks).
+ Anti-trust and competition law especially advising and structuring legally compliant programs
+ Anti-bribery laws

+ Ethics and Compliance in a Pharmaceutical Industry setting
