WHAT DOES KF AEROSPACE DO?
At KF Aerospace, the focus of our business is aircraft maintenance. We provide maintenance services for a variety of domestic customers such as WestJet and Air Canada, as well as international customers like Lynden Air Cargo and Iceland Air. Our certified Aircraft Maintenance Engineers (AME’s) are qualified to complete this work on a multitude of aircraft types. The KF Aerospace Kelowna base consists of four hangars that can hold up to 13 aircraft at a time with the average visit spanning 30 days depending on our customer’s needs. Each hangar houses additional staff to support operations and the customer.
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
Do you have a background in customer service, such as the fast food, retail, or restaurant industries? If so, then you are the perfect candidate for this position! The Hangar Support position is responsible for supporting our internal customers with any request involving parts, materials, or tools. We expect our applicants to demonstrate their ability to work under pressure while maintaining positive customer interactions.
Hangar Support consists of three roles: Customer Support, Materials Support, and Production Support. Each employee starts as Customer Support but can be cross-trained in all three positions to determine the best fit. We do expect our employees to cover in the other roles when required. The descriptions of the roles are listed below:
Customer Support
The Customer Support role is team-oriented and requires a team player attitude. The team size averages between 8-10 people, but it expands much further to include the internal customers. To perform Customer Support duties, we use an integrated computer system. We require our candidates to have moderate computer skills and a willingness to learn the company-based systems. Experience with Microsoft Office, Point of Sale (POS) systems, or DOS programs is an asset.
Once you are comfortable in the Customer Support role, you can be trained in one or both of the following roles:
Materials Support
Sourcing and ordering aircraft materials that are requested by the AME’s. Materials Support acts as a liaison between the Purchasing Department and the AME’s to gather information on the status of the parts to help forecast the progression of the project. To communicate the status of parts, Materials Support create daily reports using Microsoft Excel. Once the materials are on site, Materials Support receives and organizes the material for current or upcoming projects. This role fits well for people who like every day to look different.
Production Support
Creating and maintaining project records, controlling legal documentation for an aircraft, inputting data in accordance with Transport Canada regulations, and generating daily customer reports for on-site customer representatives. The Production Support role is the most administrative and consistent position within Hangar Support and can be appealing to individuals who prefer a structured work environment.
HOURS OF WORK
Our support counters are open from 6 am to midnight from Monday to Friday and from 6 am to 5:30 pm on Saturday and Sunday. We have multiple shift rotations and all Hangar Support staff are expected to work any type of rotation. All rotations are 80 hours per two weeks guaranteed.
WHAT CAN WE OFFER YOU?
PROGRESSION
The Hangar Support position starts at $14.18/hour and is subject to bi-annual performance and wage reviews. An employee can increase their wage by roughly 8% each year for a 4.5-year period.
After a minimum of 3 years in the role, an individual working in Hangar Support has the opportunity to apply for the Senior Hangar Support position. The Senior Hangar Support position is an opportunity to become leaders. If successful, the candidate would move to a higher wage bracket and be recognized as a subject-matter expert in their area, trainer of new staff, and a leader of the team.
