II. ROLE SUMMARY/PURPOSE OF JOB 

Team and Reporting Structure The European Marketing Data Analyst will be a member of the newly formed European Marketing and Operations Department, reporting to the European Marketing Planning and Operations Leader. This team is responsible for improving marketing efficiency and effectiveness across Europe by (a) making available world-class prospect and customer data, insight and marketing infrastructure to drive our marketing activities, (b) managing a robust marketing planning process, (c) implementing CRM and marketing automation best practices and processes, and (d) ensuring accurate and consistent benchmarking and end-to-end measurement of all marketing initiatives across D&B Europe.

Role Description : The European Marketing Data Analyst will have a central role in the successful execution of all European Marketing initiatives. He/she will be responsible for the creation, maintenance, enhancement, data-mining, and provision of key D&B customer and prospect data, as well as for related analysis and reporting to ensure that all Marketing activities within Europe (UK, Ireland, Netherlands and Belgium) are successfully executed, measured and reported.

III. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Marketing Database
    • Design, maintain and continuously enhance D&B’s European Marketing database(s) with data from D&B’s multiple legacy systems and markets
    • Work with/incorporate new and third party data sources/databases when needed to support marketing initiatives
    • Set up process for timely capture of data in the database(s) to ensure dynamic, accurate and timely retrieval of analysis for marketing purposes - keep  D&B’s European Marketing Database(s) up to date with comprehensive, fresh and accurate data coming from all relevant internal and/or external sources
    • Establish appropriate processes to ensure data integrity, e.g. process to conduct routine cleansing of incoming and existing data
    • Assist the Data Management team with the collation and feedback of information, ensuring that client and target records are kept up-to-date in the central database and selection issues are learnt from
    • Work with the D&B data team to provide education of customer data analysis enabling targeted approach to data collection for the UK, Ireland, Belgium and Netherlands marketplaces
  • Data extract for campaigns
    • Deep understanding of D&B’s customer and prospect data and systems in order to be able to intelligently query D&B’s Marketing data base to identify the right target customers/prospects as defined by Product Marketing
    • Create process to allow the extract, match and append of data for D&B’ s marketing campaigns and feed it into D&B’s CRM and Campaign Management systems as and when required by the Marketing Communications and Product Marketing teams
  • Analysis and reporting
    • Proactive data mining and analysis of D&B’s datasets, deriving actionable insight for Marketing Communications and Product Marketing to make more efficient decisions
    • Successfully handle all external data sources to enable analysis in conjunction with D&B customer data
    • Customer profiling, analysis and segmentation to help deliver more highly personalized and relevant campaigns
    • Develop statistical analysis and models of existing and prospective customers’ behaviour and derive insight to help deliver more relevant and efficient marketing campaigns
    • Preparation of accurate analytic reports and dashboards in a way that is easy to interpret by the business (e.g. visuals, graphs, etc.)
  • Back-office infrastructure and documentation
    • Set up appropriate processes to ensure the successful delivery and ongoing operation of his/her main three areas of responsibilities stated above.
    • A key responsibility will be to assist the European Marketing Performance Manager in measuring and reporting on all D&B’s marketing initiatives by introducing the back-office processes and infrastructure required to measure and report marketing and campaign effectiveness against pre-defined goals - to produce key metrics and D&B’s Marketing Dashboards and reports
    • Document all data feeds and flows, processes, etc.

IV. KEY REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in the technical field, such as computer science/statistics or mathematics
  • Excellent technical relational database skills with a minimum of 3 years experience of Microsoft SQL (2000, 2005, 2008), specifically covering:
    • SQL Enterprise Manager
    • Transact-SQL (inc. correlated sub-queries and stored procedures )
    • DTS/SSIS
  • I n-depth experience of managing and interrogating large datasets, using SQL (T-SQL scripts) and Excel (including lookups and pivot tables)
  • Advanced user of Microsoft Office software (including Visual Basic for Applications), particularly Microsoft Excel
  • Superior analytical skills with a solid business foundation, especially in marketing
    • Ability to manipulate, analyse and interpret different data to derive insight and drive decision making
    • Experience developing and presenting business conclusions and recommendations based upon data analysis
  • Strong and effective communication  and formal presentation skills
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to work under pressure and respond quickly to data requests with a wide degree of self-sufficiency
  • B2B marketing experience advantageous
  • Knowledge of/experience with CRM (SFDC) and Marketing Automation (Eloqua) systems strongly desirable
  • Salesforce Certified Administrator accreditation desirable
