Data Scientist

A brand new opportunity has become available within Glasgow for a Data Scientist within our Financial Crime Transformation Technology team. This team comprises of a number of dedicated and talented professionals whose role it is to deliver Business Change and Technology transformation to protect the bank, its customers, and its employees, as well as society at large, from the negative effects of Financial Crime. As part of this dedicated team, you will work in collaboration with data engineers to place solutions into production and will have the ability to comprehend technical and business literature and distill academic research into well-formed hypothesis and run data experiments.

 What will you be doing?

• Support Financial Crime SMEs by developing methods and machine learning models suitable for large data sets.
• Understand the financial crime domain , experiment with machine learning models to deliver true business values and outcomes
• Work with technologists to deploy experimental analyses into robust applications that support Financial Crime analysts and investigators.
• Organise workshops, develop experimental hypothesis, work with engineers to launch the solution in production
• Ability to communicate to business by data story telling/ understanding of data visualisation
• Communicate with stakeholders to define and translate requirement into technical functions
• Participate in agile scrum environment and commit to delivery world-class performance.
• Contribute to the development of the Financial Crime Data & Analytics team

 What we’re looking for:

• Solid knowledge and hands-on experience on machine learning, statistical analytical techniques and quantitative modelling
• Solid knowledge on graph analysis, social network analysis
• Coding skills in Python/ R
• Good programming skills a plus
• Application knowledge of BigData platforms, e.g. Hadoop and Spark ecosystem

 Skills that will help you in the role:

• Proficiency  in Scala and processing large scale data using SQL and NoSQL database systems, e.g. ElasticSearch, MongoDB, Hadoop a big plus
• Some course work in business/econometrics/finance domain or equivalent industry experience a big plus

Where will you be working?

This role will be based in our Aurora house Glasgow office; a stones throw away from Glasgow Central Train Station and the heart of Glasgow.
