The role

Good things are happening at Coles! We are embarking on a revolutionary Supply Chain modernisation project, which will see the development of two new automated ambient distribution centres (DCs) in Brisbane & Sydney.

Working across project streams this key leadership role will ensure that all End-to-End DC Operational requirements are aligned and integrated across all impacted functions. You will be involved from the outset from operational design to site build/commission and most importantly play an integral role into bringing the new sites into an operational state.

The DC Operations Readiness Manager will assess and design the operating requirements for the automated DC including building design (interior and exterior), on-site processes and policies covering labour planning, transport management and business continuity.

You will commence the role as a key operational interface between supply chain functions, I.T, safety, business units, property, stores and the automated design - defining end state operational processes that can eventually be tendered to the onsite DC Manager once the site is operational.

With a highly strategic focus, the DC Operations Readiness Manager will also manage site transition planning including proposed site closures to new site, volume ramp up and readiness and the transition to business as usual operations.

To be successful, you’ll have:

  • proven experience as an SME for all DC and site related processes, covering SOP’s, labour planning, transport management and business continuity planning
  • managed multiples projects (i.e. new site builds) and transition from project to business as usual state
  • senior level DC management experience is critical having managed high volume DCs including delivering significant optimisation and continuous improvement
  • played an integral operational role in the opening of new or closure of existing DC’s
  • demonstrated leading and collaborating with numerous cross functional stakeholders across various locations
  • an endearing communication and leadership style to build strong working relationships
  • exposure to DC automation (preferred)
