Moving services to the cloud is a strategic transformation Aviva is undertaking. Aviva have developed a global cloud platform architecture, using cloud as the delivery mechanism that takes advantage of its advanced features, scalability, and nearly unlimited capacity. This position is critical in managing the delivery of Aviva Canada’s cloud migration program.  Main focus areas include application migration workstreams, execution against project schedules, performance reporting, program budget and finance control, as well as project coordination between business and technical delivery teams.

Position Overview

The Senior Cloud Delivery Manager (Cloud Program) has overall accountability for ensuring that the multi-year Cloud Program is delivered on time, on budget, and at the high quality that our stakeholders are expecting. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the different workstreams contributing enhancements to the cloud platform, delivery of future capabilities, and application workload migrations. You will work in conjunction with the Cloud Centre of Excellence, the cloud platform operations team, cloud engineering, cloud migration partners, and application development teams.

Qualified individuals will:

  • Provide program management of the delivery of Aviva-designed public cloud platform and will need to have previous experience dealing with public cloud in an enterprise environment.
  • Contribute to local market and global program activities, influencing, building, and maintaining relationships, collaborations and partnerships with Aviva’s partners and other stakeholders.
  • Work with other areas of the business, product development, service delivery and other internal Aviva teams, the candidate will be expected to own the cloud service delivery ensuring timely and effective roadmaps are developed and implemented to meet Aviva strategic goals.
  • Work within the guidelines stated in Aviva’s Global IT Security mandatory controls
  • Communicate effectively and efficiently to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Be a self-starter who can also manage his/her own workload
  • Be comfortable in a high-pressure environment and will need to support the technical delivery team in the development of standards, processes, and documentation by working with our development community and design/architecture teams
  • Work with vendor management to negotiate favourable service level agreements with third-party partners
  • Provide Team leadership for scaled Agile cross functional innovation teams. Contribute to and promote the development of agile skillset and capabilities.

  • Execute multiple projects simultaneously utilizing modern project management methodologies to ensure maximum project effectiveness according to Aviva’s Change Framework
  • Ensure that the program is delivered according to Aviva’s Change Framework
  • Effectively understand all program related costs, build, and maintain multiple cost models against approved budgets. Recommend corrective actions and implement changes. Identify and mitigate risks; develop and implement risk mitigation plans.
  • Support the development of business cases relating to migration of application workloads to cloud
  • Manage change management processes associated with program activities; includes coordinating with business units, impacted customers, and technical teams

The Person (the “Who”)

Experience:

  • Bachelors or Background in Engineering or Technical field.
  • Over 10 years of IT Program Management experience, with at least 3 years related experience in delivering public cloud projects
  • Demonstrated experience delivering services that meet the business needs and are delivered in accordance with agreed upon business requirements, and managing the service lifecycle
  • Experience with agile and/or lean start-up type methodologies would be beneficial
  • Experience with public cloud environments (AWS preferred)
  • Experience in working with multi sourced operating models and teams
  • Excellent stakeholder management and political awareness
  • Experience maintaining and evolving a risk management strategy and process
  • Experience maintaining and evolving a change management strategy and process

Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrates extensive knowledge and a proven record of success leading and collaborating with middle and senior management on client-facing business development, engagement delivery, practice development and thought leadership engagements
  • Demonstrated leadership with large scale infrastructure and transformation deliveries
  • An ability to inspire individuals and teams to change and improve
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with all stakeholders in the organization in both IT and the business
  • Ability to define and negotiate priorities amongst stakeholders ensuring successful delivery on commitments made
  • Knowledge of key Cloud Terminology and Technology constructs (preferred)
  • Understanding of networking technologies and emerging trends in networking (preferred)
  • Knowledge in collaboration tools such as JIRA, Confluence, MS Teams preferred, and knowledge of DevOps tool chain will be an asset
  • A high degree of competency with MS PowerPoint and other Office toolsAgile experience or training would be an asset
  • PMP certification or training would be an asset
