As the member of the International Financial Reporting Standard (IFRS) 17 Program Office, this job holder will involve a significant impact on the Data, Systems and Processes of Prudential Life Assurance (PLAI). It is important that these changes are designed, planned and implemented effectively such that the project's legacy is efficient and automated and the solutions are scalable, which would free up and support staff in adding business value and generating insights. This role will require an software solutions expert with more than 3 years' experience to support the IFRS 17 Pilot Solution Implementation Lead in ensuring the outcomes of the IFRS 17 program are enabled through the design of the solution.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:


1. Lead and Serve Delivery Team

  • Work with Product Owner to ensure solution has clear objectives and key results
  • Ensure efficient communication between delivery team (internal and external, local and regional), product owner, business team, and management
  • Facilitate team to work efficiently, ensure smooth build and release process, and continuously look for ways to improve the process
  • Facilitate sprint planning, backlog grooming, daily scrum meetings, and sprint retrospective meetings to plan and deliver the agreed requirements / user stories
  • Implement techniques and tools to effectively review progress against plan on daily basis and provide visibility of progress for management
  • Build team capabilities, coach and share knowledge to team members

2. Build and Deliver Solution

  • Ensure requirements are agreed and prioritized with business teams
  • Build technical solution that delivers values for stakeholders
  • Review technical architecture and provide inputs
  • Ensure delivery team achieves each sprint’s goals by removing impediments
  • Ensure delivery team implement continuous integration / continuous delivery (CI/CD) in their daily work to deliver the solutions

3. Ensure Quality of Solution

  • Ensure delivery team releases solutions that meet the acceptance criteria
  • Ensure team performs unit testing and source code passes unit testing
  • Ensure all testing activities are performed as per plan
  • Ensure delivery team complies with all procedures including required documentation
  • Continuously build automated testing

4. Resolve Production Issues and Continuous Improvement

  • Ensure delivery team can resolve production issues and bugs as per agreed date
  • Ensure problems and feedbacks for improvements are included in back log and prioritized in project planning and sprint planning sessions
  • Ensure solutions meet the agreed service level (availability, processing time, etc.)

5. Manage Team

  • Regularly review team’s performance (staffs and vendors) and provide feedbacks
  • Perform ongoing evaluation and performance review (mid-year and year-end)
  • Coach team to be self sufficient and increase adoption of agile principles

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor graduate in Computer Science or other related disciplines
  • Minimum 6 years of experience in software engineering
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in leading technical team to deliver large and complex systems especially in finance and accounting functions
  • At least 1 year of experience leading technical teams practicing agile principles
  • Have experience working on implementation of systems for Finance and Accounting functions or ETL / data warehouse solutions
  • Problem solving skills, able to evaluate, analyze and solve problems quickly
  • Sound knowledge of agile principles and scrum and techniques to use in Scrum (for example, burndown techniques, retrospective formats, handling bugs)
  • Knowledge and understanding of best practices in technical solution engineering (continuous integration, automated testing, etc)
  • Knowledge of Java programming language and frameworks, messaging (kafka or similar platform), ETL tools (SSIS), databases (SQL Server, Hadoop/Greenplum, Azure Data Factory), CDC tools and concept
  • Able to use JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket, Bamboo, Jenkins, Artifactory, and other similar tools to manage DevOps process and environment
  • Fluent in both spoken and written English (ability to speak one or more Asian languages desirable)
  • Willing to travel (although not extensively)
