About the role

We're on an exciting digital transformation journey, with an ambitious roadmap of initiatives to support our customers and people. To ensure the ongoing success of our digital platforms, we're looking for a Developer to join our team. 

We're looking for an intermediate-level developer who enjoys a challenge. You'll be supported by two senior developers, and will be part of a newly-formed digital team. You'll be experienced in Laravel and PHP, and have a range of front and back-end experience.

The purpose of this role is to maintain, optimise and build on our existing digital platforms. You'll use customer insights to design and develop new features, and will be able to juggle both BAU and project work. We're still forming our ways of working, so you'll need to be patient and open minded as we find our rhythm.  

Experience & skills

Key experience required in this role includes:

  • 2+ Years software development experience
  • Experience with open-source application frameworks to develop long lived and actively maintained products
  • Experience with PHP and Laravel is essential
  • Experience with continual development and optimisation
  • An understanding of Javascript, HTML5, CSS
  • Experience in the design and implementation of responsive and mobile websites
  • The ability to work to a minimum viable product model with a frequent release cycle
  • A strong understanding of cross-browser compatibility issues and ways to work around them
  • Experience using CMS platforms
  • Experience optimising applications for maximum speed and scalability
  • Familiarity with concepts in information architecture and accessible design
  • A strong aptitude for using insights in design and idea generation
  • The ability to communicate technical matters in everyday language
  • Patience and willingness to learn
