- Job Summary
Reporting to the SCOR Global P&C’s Head of business development, the future jobholder is responsible for strategic management and business development activities, providing analytics, market intelligence and project management support to deliver SGP&C’s strategic planning and implementation.
- Key duties and responsibilities
The jobholder’s role will involve regular interactions across the SCOR P&C division including with support functions, e.g. Finance, Pricing, Reserving, or Underwriting Management, and with all the business lines and underwriting units. Coordination and effective communication with other teams in the SCOR Group and external parties such as consultants or investment banks will also be critical.
Support the team in analyzing strategic themes to prepare decision making at executive level:
Monitor and analyze the competitive environment and strategies in the sector; identify the main drivers of the trends in the positioning and strategic moves of competitors, brokers and clients
Contribute to the definition of SCOR Global P&C’s strategic framework; help prepare and finalize the strategic plans, and participate in presentations to senior management
Interact with internal teams and external stakeholders to help implement the long-term strategy of SCOR Global P&C. Ensure timely implementation, reporting and engage specific follow-up actions
Prepare and coordinate material and interactions with rating agencies/investors for specific communications (annual updates to rating agengies, Investor day / strategic plan update, re/insurance renewals reporting)
Support the Head of business development in driving strategic projects incubation, special projects, as well as supporting the business teams for business development projects
Interact with external consulting support to drive market studies or consulting engagements required for the successful implementation of business development initiatives
Contribute to the analyses and potential implementation of M&A opportunities
Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG):
Support the SCOR Global P&C Senior advisor in charge of ESG initiatives and the Head of marketing and ESG Business development in the definition of the annual ESG action plans. Provide relevant analytics and market insight to enhance the understanding of SGP&C’s positioning and evolution over time on ESG topics.
Participate to the various ESG-related projects’ management in order to implement these action plans in a timely and efficient manner
Support the team in the SGP&C’s leadership team meetings preparation and governance
Contribute to internal communication (to Group executive committee) and external communication (to rating agencies, and investors) on key SGP&C projects
- Required experience & competencies
Experience: You have built a first experience in finance, strategy or related functions of financial institutions, consulting firms and/or insurance/reinsurance firms.
Superior analytical skills and strategic thinking: the future jobholder will need to understand and conduct complex analyses to generate insights into the development of strategic decisions and associated action plans
Willingness and ability to learn: though deep knowledge of P&C (re)insurance is not a pre-requisite, it’s important to have a strong desire to learn and proven previous experiences of getting into a new industry and quickly grasping its fundamental principles
Interpersonal and communication skills: because the job has regular exposure to SCOR’s top management, you will need to present ideas and results clearly, concisely and in a convincing way whether in writing or orally
Leadership: as a project leader involving transversal teams, across geographies, without formal or reporting authority, the jobholder will need maturity, charisma, and leadership skills
“Can do” attitude and ability to fit with SCOR’s culture: the jobholder will often be working on new problems, requiring to be practical and resourceful and able to work as a team-player to get results
