We are looking for an enthusiastic, passionate Development Manager to join our growing team as we strive to deliver excellence to our customers. You're a self-starter who will be part of an empowered management team working on our portfolio of Enterprise Intelligence Technology assets.
The role will report into the Director, Numeric Analytics and you’ll be leading a team which has adopted a truly Agile approach to deliver enhancements which drive the growth of the capability. You will oversee and take part in the analysis, definition, design, implementation, testing, maintenance and support of Numeric Analytics assets, working closely with our Quality Managers to ensure that what we deliver is to a high standard.
You will drive the group to focus on providing the best in class solutions by applying consistent project and service methodologies and principles.
Over time, you’ll be working with a number of Development Directors (the owners of our 40+ content stores) and our Programme & Project Managers to inject new levels of standardisation and consistency in how we deliver, covering the full software development lifecycle.
Guide the development of our products using a forward-thinking strategy
Using technical expertise to assist with design and plan processes for future development that will enhance our product and improve supportability and availability of the desired production services.
Work with the local management team to drive a ‘quality first’ environment, across all developers
Demonstrate iterative improvement in the quality of our software and be accountable for the overall quality of releases
Apply and contribute to evolving a robust Agile implementation within the teams
Develop and improve software engineering standards, practices, and metrics. Ensure engineers are empowered to augment and refine these, whilst maintaining necessary governance
Produces, delivers, and maintains focused documentation for systems in accordance to document control standards and procedures.
Provides direction into effective monitoring, tuning, maintenance, performance optimization, backups and recovery; ensures infrastructure will meet capacity requirements to deliver projects on time.
Support development teams to ensure progress and provide resources as necessary
Ensure coherent, pragmatic use of toolsets across our products – reusing where appropriate
Manage a team of Software Developers. Provide leadership to team members
Promote a high-performance work culture focused on the development and retention of high-quality team members
Contribute to a wider Development CoP, ensuring your team is empowered to do the same
Provide specialist guidance to the teams providing production support services when unseen major incidents occur.
Provides experienced technical planning and risk analysis to ensure accurate and timely service deployments
Prepared to get hands dirty in development if required
Proactively identifies risks & issues and take ownership to deliver appropriate resolutions.
Provides technical expertise for sophisticated root cause analysis and problem management.

Essential Skills / Experience
Capable of motivating and energizing others, as well as gaining their respect.
Experience in leading small teams, preferably in an Agile environment
Experienced programmer, with good technical skills
C++, C, Python or another similar programming language
Self-starter - does what it takes to get the job done
Comfortable operating in a dynamic environment
Experienced, able and keen to work using Agile development methodologies
Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
Experience in unit testing and code analysis tools
Proficient using source code management tools such as Git or SVN
Familiarity with and/or accreditation in AWS or similar Cloud technology
Expertise on networks, database, middleware, IT security.
