Liferay Cloud is looking for a DevOps Engineer to joying Liferay Cloud and lead our Infrastructure Team.
About You and this Role

You enjoy solving problems and thrive in a customer-centric environment, you don’t just focus on operations but also love running systems and software in the real world. The ideal candidate will have progressively stronger experience in distributed systems, Linux/Unix scripting, networking, and systems and reliability engineering. You are excited about containers, and container orchestration with Kubernetes. One of your passions is to build DevOps tools that make it easier for people to build, deploy and scale apps on our Cloud platform. As an engineer in this team lead role, you not only love being able to build, ship, and run applications with ease, but also creating a solid team to help you accomplish that and go beyond.

Key Responsibilities

  • Help drive the technology vision for the Infrastructure team, including making key architectural decisions for our platform
  • Be in charge of a team of 5 to 10 people
  • Set priorities, following company’s OKRs and the Roadmap
  • Provide support to our Sales team (pre- and post-sales)
  • Mentor team members, lead resolutions, take ownership of issues
  • Give proper, frequent and immediate feedback to individuals, teams and management 
  • Identify missing knowledge in order to help people achieve their full potential
  • Recognize strengths and weaknesses: know your teammates' abilities and interests so that you know who excels in which area and also who needs help to improve
  • Create and track Individual Development Plans (IDPs) for your team members
  • Perform quarterly reviews
  • Perform monthly 1-1 meetings with all direct reports
  • Onboard new senior members, clarifying and improving the onboarding process
  • Oversee release process and pipelines
  • Monitor system performance, security, and functionality for continuous improvement
  • Manage support tickets queue and workload distribution across the team
  • Define and oversee the team's knowledge management approach and documentation best practices
  • Support team members providing technical support to customers and other internal teams, including troubleshooting user operation problems, application problems, system misconfigurations and malfunctions, and network operation problems in our cloud environments

Required Qualifications

  • BS in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Solid experience running and maintaining a 24x7 production environment
  • Solid experience operating Kubernetes clusters on a public cloud
  • Experience with at least one of the following managed Kubernetes services:
  • Experience in automating development processes and environments
  • Experience implementing full CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience scripting in languages used by Systems Engineers (e.g. Shell, Golang, C/C++)
  • Solid knowledge of Linux-based operating systems
  • Strong communication and team player skills
  • Comfortable with Agile practices for delivering iterative solutions to the business

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience operating large-scale distributed systems using GCP
  • Experience with LetsEncrypt integrated with Kubernetes
  • Professional experience with MySQL, NGINX, Tomcat, Git, and Jenkins.
  • Any of the following certifications:
    • Google Cloud Certified Professional Cloud Architect
    • Google Cloud Certified Professional DevOps Engineer
    • Google Cloud Certified Professional Cloud Security Engineer
    • Google Cloud Certified Professional Cloud Network Engineer
