Division Description

Wealth Management Technology (WMT) is responsible for the design, development, delivery and support of the technical platform behind the products and services used by the Morgan Stanley Wealth Management Business.

Middle Office Platform Technology provides technology solutions to Wealth Management Clients. It provides opportunity to develop wealth management relationships with the individuals as well as individuals associated with institutional clients. It provides the foundational elements, APIs, services and systems supporting the Wealth Management Middle Office. Middle Office Platform is the interfacing layer between back-office platforms and front-office channels including, but not limited to, web, mobile and operational tools.

This position is for experienced senior leader for the Middle Office Platform Technology team. The team provides application development, platform enhancement and reengineering, and technology support to the Wealth Management business users. The candidate will work directly with the business users for requirement gathering and analysis, as well as with other IT teams across the Wealth Management organization for implementing multi-platform technology solutions. The position requires the ability to manage multiple on-going projects, track their progress within tight timeframes and be able to play multiple roles of Coach, Manager, Leader, Architect and Development Manager. The candidate will be interacting with a culturally and technically diverse community, from mainframe and web developers to engineering teams and executive management. The position requires proven leadership skills, Influencing peer organizations, outstanding technical & management skills and ability to execute.

The candidate must be self-motivated, flexible, highly adaptable and an excellent leader as well as team player. The candidate should expect to work in a global virtual team along with NY and offshore team members.

The key responsibilities include:

  • Oversee the development, deployment, monitoring, maintenance, documentation and support of high quality, reliable applications to meet the business needs

  • Collaborate with the business to identify new business requirements and lead the technology team to deliver those requirements

  • Partner with the other application development teams to front to back solutions that benefit the business

  • Having an oversight responsibility for the related Data Technologies teams in India

  • Lead a large team of vendor resources

Required Skills

  • Bachelors/Master’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems or related field

  • 15+ years of technical leadership experience in technology, preferably in Financial Services

  • Extensive experience with application development using the latest technology stack for a service oriented architecture and deep understanding of data models with a view on application of these technologies

  • Highly self-motivated, self-directed, and attentive to detail with ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment

  • Excellent analytical, communication, collaboration and negotiations skills

  • Highly efficient in defining and meeting SLAs in order to satisfy and meet aggressive project timelines, and critical spontaneous requests

  • Excellent communication skills; verbal and written; articulate; must be able to communicate effectively with business executives

  • Strong experience putting together and delivering both business and technical presentations Business focused; results oriented Excellent team building skills Strong leader; leads by example
