Purpose of Job
The Director, Operational Risk Methodology and Governance is a key senior role within Operational Risk to direct and lead the team to deliver on i) global operational risk methodology and governance ii) global communication and training iii) coordination and reporting of non-financial risk information to a senior audience iv) manage external industry and internal relationships to improve the Bank's overall operational risk governance including incorporation of leading practice and v) present at VP+ level forums of Bank executives.
Key Job Accountabilities
Responsible for developing, enhancing and maintaining the Bank's operational risk methodology and governance documents such as risk appetite, risk management framework and associated methodologies and management standards (e.g. RCSA, KRI, Scenario Analysis, NIRA, operational risk event reporting, taxonomies etc). This includes global oversight of local methodology and governance documents to provide consistency and advice and counsel.
Responsible for design, improvement, coordination and reporting of non-financial risk information to senior management and committees.
Responsible for implementation and sustainment of an enterprise communication and training program related to operational risk management.
Responsible for representing and contributing on behalf of the Bank in external engagements with peers and industry. Responsibilities include keeping abreast of leading practices and leading change in the Bank's methodology and governance.
Responsible for representing and contributing on behalf of Operational Risk in managing internal relationships with the Operational Risk Oversight team and key business line and control function stakeholders and their key initiatives.
Lead and coach a team to deliver on business priorities.
Lead and manage initiatives that improve the efficiency and effectiveness of Operational Risk such as lead change/projects, identify process improvements, etc., as assigned.
Skills, Experience and Functional Competencies
Experience in risk management, methodology, governance, or process improvement.
Experience in reporting to the Board and Senior Executives.
Experience leading teams.
Fluency in written and spoken Spanish is preferred.
Expert interpersonal and relationship building skills and strong communication skills are essential to influence and collaborate effectively with others.
Superior written skills, high degree of judgment, and attention to detail.
Ability to work on complex projects independently, within tight deadlines, adapts to changing deadlines and delivers materials. Excellent organizational skills are required to manage multiple and concurrent deliverables.
