We are looking for an exceptional design leader who is both a strategic systems-thinker and inspirational leader for their teams. You have high standards for the artifacts your teams create, a drive to help teams express their creative visions, and a passion for creating an inclusive culture of curiosity where team members can grow. In this role, you will be responsible for leading and managing design managers across Workday’s Talent Optimization pillar. Whilst this person will sit on the Talent Optimization leadership team they will report directly to the Vice President of UX Design.
Head up UX Design for Workday’s Talent Optimization pillar
Build, hire, empower, inspire, and retain a best in class design team that effectively delivers impactful design work that champions the user experience
Lead, inspire and mentor teams; promote their work, guide them, and bring them to the next level
Serve as a design subject matter expert internally and externally, providing specialized thought leadership to others in the industry
Espouse Workday’s Design Principles of Simple, Fast, and Clever across the organization
Create and ensure adoption standards for our product through cross-functional and company-wide communication
Collaborate with creative directors, design teams, product management and engineering to craft best in class user experiences for our products
Participate with other senior level design managers to establish strategic plans and objectives
Create and champion a user experience vision, along with a plan for evolutionary, iterative steps to get there
Adept at recruiting top talent and finding growth opportunities for the entire team
Critique design work and provide actionable feedback, and grow team’s critical design thinking skills
Enhance the performance and skill set of your team by promoting mentoring and educational opportunities
Coach and mentor other design managers in Dublin
Build relationships with other leaders at Workday
At least 15 years experience and proven track record in product design
10+ years experience managing teams of product designers and researchers, with experience leading design managers
Experienced and purposeful in building an environment of diversity, inclusion, cooperation, and trust in service to our teammates and users
Experience with, and strong point of view on how to best organize, maintain, and scale design teams
Excellent written communication and compelling presentation style that encourages stakeholder buy-in
Collaborate cross-functionally with product management, engineering, and other design groups to ensure a smooth product development process
Excellent people and design culture advocate with amazing interpersonal skills that imbue compassion and honesty
Familiar with enterprise software and the future of work
Functional knowledge of Talent Acquisition and Development is desired
