For the Content Manager this means you have the desire to move and motivate, and to engage and activate crewmembers across JetBlue through compelling content. In this fast-paced role, you’ll be creating an editorial strategy and writing for a wide range of audiences via multiple mediums. We’re looking for someone that is both passionate about creating engaging and compelling stories and motivating others to do so, no matter the channel or audience. The stories you tell will enhance the JetBlue crewmember culture and help support our goal of having the most informed and engaged crewmembers in the industry. You’re the eyes and ears of news around the company and must be passionate about making sure those stories are told in a concise and connected way.
The Content Manager will report to the Director, Corporate Communications. The manager will support internal communications by leading the content strategy across multiple internal communications platforms including Daily News (company-wide e-newsletter), HelloJetBlue (intranet and mobile app), and BluePrint (print magazine for Crewmembers and their families). Plus, you’ll have many more creative writing opportunities across an assortment of communication mediums including video.
The manager must be a sharp writer and have a strong understanding of how to drive Crewmember clicks and engagement on JetBlue’s Corporate Communications channels. Ultimately, the manager’s editorial and content strategy should lead to an increase in the number of clicks and view on internal channels and a deeper knowledge of the stories we share with Crewmembers.
Essential Responsibilities
• Be the editor in chief for Daily News, HelloJetBlue, BluePrint and other internal communications channels
• Write engaging and compelling stories, headlines and internal social media content
• In addition to daily writing, editing and proofreading content, work closely with the technical team and outside business partners to maintain and evolve HelloJetBlue
• Lead one direct report (editorial professional) and one full-time intern
• Partner with video and graphic design professionals (internal and freelance) to create rich content
• Develop a keen understanding of the JetBlue brand voice and apply throughout communications
• Be passionate about qualitative and quantitative measurement to understand the stickiness, relevance, popularity and overall effectiveness of content
• Practice a firm commitment to fact-checking
• Assist in crisis communication, after-hours media relations, and other communications responsibilities as assigned
• Other duties as assigned
Minimum Experience and Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree
• Five (5) years demonstrated experience in journalism, communications, marketing and/or public relations
• Must possess strong organizational, planning, and time-management abilities to be able to produce multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines and manage others to do the same
• Attention to detail and while providing exceptional customer service at all levels of the company with little supervision
• Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to multitask and work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
• Available for occasional overnight/international travel as needed
• Must be available occasionally for unplanned events, including incident and crisis response
• In possession of valid travel documents with the ability to travel in and out of the United States
• Able to produce a work product assignment upon request
• Excellent troubleshooting/problem-solving skills
• Able to pass a ten (10) year background check and pre-employment drug test
• Legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located
Preferred Experience and Qualifications
• Experience as a professional journalist, author of internet-based media content, or experience as an internal content strategist
• Multilingual
Crewmember Expectations:
• Regular attendance and punctuality
• Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice
• Well groomed and able to maintain a professional appearance.
• When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft
• Must be an appropriate organizational fit for the JetBlue culture, that is, exhibit the JetBlue values of Safety, Caring, Integrity, Passion and Fun
• Must fulfill safety accountabilities as prescribed by JetBlue’s Safety Management System
• Promote JetBlue’s #1 value of safety as a Safety Ambassador, supporting JetBlue’s Safety Management System (SMS) components, Safety Policy and behavioral standards
• Identify safety concerns, issues, incidents or hazards that should be reported and report them whenever possible and by any means necessary including JetBlue’s confidential reporting systems (Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP) or Safety Action Report(SAR))
• Responsible for adhering to all applicable laws, regulations (FAA, OSHA, DOT, etc.) and Company policies, procedures and risk controls
• Uphold JetBlue’s safety performance metric goals and understand how they relate to their duties and responsibilities
