Network 10 is looking for an experienced Social Media Editor to lead the social media team for 10’s news platform, 10 daily. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving the brand’s overall social media strategy: distributing journalists’ content across social channels for maximum audience engagement; developing new audience channels and continually building the brand’s social footprint.

The role will be responsible for managing 10 daily’s social accounts, including oversight and management of the 10 News First social channels nationally. 

Working in conjunction with our national newsrooms and interstate social producers, plus our 10 Social teams, the Social Editor will drive cross-network collaboration to enhance reach and awareness, engaging new and existing social audiences.

Prior experience working in a media/ news environment would be required. Flexibility to work within newsroom rostering, including mornings, nights or weekends as/when required.

Key responsibilities of the role : 

  • Managing 10 daily’s presence on social - Facebook, Twitter, Instagram - and developing innovative ways to reach audiences via emerging channels
  • Managing 10 News First social media accounts, developing strategies to grow and develop audiences in each local market. Managing interstate producers.
  • Utilising social platforms to break, schedule, distribute and maximise the promotion of content via our various channels
  • Oversee and execute content for social distribution
  • Provide social coverage during live events or breaking news, which may include working out of office hours or on weekends as required
  • Proven ability to craft exceptional social media posts, tweets, and live social coverage that successfully drives engagement, reach and shares
  • Stakeholder management at senior level
  • Leverage social channels to source and gather content for journalists
  • Produce engaging, unique and exciting content for ten daily’s social accounts to maximise audience engagement, shares and referrals
  • Work with 10 Social Media teams and talent, developing innovative ways to reach and engage audiences via cross-channel social promotion
  • Use data, social learnings and regular reporting to inform social strategy
  • Discover unique and innovative ways to reach audiences via social
  • Regularly share social knowledge and insights with the team
  • Be a natural storyteller who can push the boundaries via social media

Required qualifications :

  • 4 years’ experience in a social media role, preferably in a media organisation
  • Experience with real-time analytics, social management and share tools
  • Confident understanding of social platforms Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc, and how to tailor posts to suit each channel
  • Track record developing and executing successful social media campaigns and building digital audiences
  • Experience using video and image editing software such as Photoshop and/or Adobe After Effects
  • Solid understanding of the social web, copyright and Australian media law
  • Strong understanding of breaking news practices
  • Team management experience
